I looked young for a 30 y/o. Most people thought I was 25.
After only one fraxel treatment my skin and face look 15-20 years older.
Motivation for this was minor acne scarring.
I had beautiful SMOOTH and TIGHT skin but just wanted to even out the shallow mild acne scars.
Instead I have SUFFERED greatly (with only 1 treatment):
BURNED SEVERELY
Fat loss/volume loss!!!
Orange peel texture!!!
Micro bumps all over skin that won't go away, similar to a rash
Depressions where beam hit one spot more than once
No oil production
No sweat production
Nerve damage
Blood vessel damage
Puffy eyes (never had puffy eyes!)
Oil glands in eyes dried up! (Laser didn't even get the eyelids)
Lips dried up (Laser didn't even get the lips)
Wrinkling / sagging of skin everywhere
Smokers lip (never smoked! And I don't [RS bleep] my lips!) (skin above the lip)
Bags under eyes
Face will not regulate heat instead it gets red (never used to) and hot and eyes get puffy because of this.
Face shape change (due to loose skin and fat/volume loss)
Muscular weakness
Face has odd moments of extreme heat circulation with no increase in activity
Pigment changes!
Grid lines
Pores HUGE (I had small lovely pores prior).
It's been over 10 months. I'm still suffering both physically and emotionally.
NO DOCTORS I have seen will throw any other doctor or procedure under the bus. They all have given pat answers like you're just aging.
I know my face before and after and NO ONE GOES from 25 y/o looking to 45/50 y/o looking in 10 months!
Do yourself a favor STAY AWAY FROM ALL LASERS!
This procedure is NOT WORTH a second glance!

Im so sorry this also happened to you, there are so many of us suffering from permanent laser damage. My damage is laser holes or ice pick scarring all over my face.

Thank you. I am so sorry for you too.
Have you found anything to help the scarring?
I am constantly doing research to find what will help me. So far the only thing that I've found that has made a SLIGHT noticeable difference has been the 3 little wonders by ole henriksen.
It certainly hasn't gotten me near back to my original face texture, but I've noticed a minor difference compared to many many other products I've tried that didn't make a difference at all.
I'm still at a loss. Still devastated. Still so heartbroken over what that person did to my face.

Have you tried dermapen treatments? Do you have the micro-holes? (common with laser damage). If you have these holes (looks like ice pick scarring), I have found single needling works by far the best for filling in these holes and also breaking down their surrounding borders. You described "micro bumps all over skin that won't go away, similar to a rash." I had this, and other people I have been in contact with who have laser damage have also been "blessed" with this issue. I believe it's keratosis pilaris induced from the laser damage. From what I've read and personally experienced, it is a condition that must be treated regularly, or it will keep coming back. Paula's Choice Resist9 works wonders for kp, and also for texture, redness, fine lines, and acne. If what you have is more minor, you can treat it with bha or aha. Look at FraxelistheWORST's posts. She has a link showing a study for people with severe acne scarring where they rotated between peels and dermapen. This is a good strategy for dealing with laser damage. Dermapen will also address your pigment issues.

I am still suffering. I am still grieving. Every time I look in the mirror it is a reminder of what happened.
The only thing so far that has helped me has been:
Olay regenerist instant fix exfoliate and renew microdermabrasion kit used 2 times per week
(This helps with this micro bumps better than anything else I've found).
And
Three Little Wonders by: Ole Henrickson used every day (now twice a day). (This has helps to tighten and brighten the skin somewhat).
Obviously nothing has improved the fat loss. Once a fat cell dies (not simply depleted) it is eliminated from your body. Even gaining weight (40+lbs) didn't help. Instead the fat just went to other cells (on my waist) instead of creating new ones on my face.
I would have to get facial fat injections to improve my sunken face.
I am soooo afraid of even stepping foot in another doctors office, so I may never get fat injections. So many doctors that don't care about you and just want your hard earnedmoney.
As far as skin texture and strength goes. It is only slightly improved thanks to the products mentioned above. I am trying to focus on that (the positive), but it's hard to do when I still see so clearly the scars left by the laser.
If anyone has a product that has helped, please tell me.
Im still too sad and ashamed to post pictures. I'm sorry. I know pictures help others, but I just can't bring myself to post them yet.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. Did you do the fraxel dual/restore or the ablative repair? I was damaged by the fraxel dual/restore almost 6 months ago and have been completely devastated at my skin's appearance ever since. I cannot understand how fraxel is FDA approved when so many people get damaged! I wonder when they will take this terrible technology off the market.

Thank you. I am so sorry for you too. I messaged you just now.
Please try to be kind to your heart. I know it is a big regret (for me too), but try your best to not beat up on yourself.
You've suffered enough. Hugs.
I know. I wonder why this machine is out there. It's just a money making scheme. It's got to be political. Somewhere someone paid to get this thing approved. Too many cases where people are suffering. It just makes no sense.
I am still grieving as you can see. I hope you can give yourself space and time to grieve.
Message me if you want.
Hugs.
And hugs to everyone else who has suffered.

I am terribly sorry to hear that you had such a horrible experience with the treatment :( I appreciate you sharing your story, this must be such a hard thing to deal with for you. I understand how it feels to want to get rid of acne scars ( I have some from cystic acne on my checks) only to end up with an end result such as this. You went into this with good intentions and I wish it had worked out for you..... I often wonder why some people have extremely good results and other the complete opposite.
