Starting earlier this year I completely changed everything about the way I eat and how I viewed working out and exercise. And oh my goodness did it work (to the tune of 60 lbs of weight loss in about 6 months or so). The one thing that didn't go away though, no matter how much I worked out, was all of the excess fat under my chin. It runs in my family and it's been tormenting me since I was 20.
I never would have thought of plastic surgery as a solution but luckily my wife is much, much smarter than I am and she suggested it. It took me a while to really wrap my head around the concept but eventually I decided to look into it. And I saw a lot of amazing results.
That's when I started seriously looking at doctors and RealSelf was a huge part of that. I appreciated being able to see doctors interact with people who aren't necessarily their patients. So I set up some consultations.
The decision to go with Dr. Nichter was obvious after meeting him. His office and his staff are both incredibly welcoming and completely professional. During my consultation I felt informed but never pressured or manipulated. Dr. Nichter simply laid out the facts for me and explained to me how he would fix my chin. I scheduled my procedure (chin liposuction and a chin implant) for a few weeks later.
The actual procedure itself was quick and easy (well, from what I remember anyway. Pain meds helped me take a nap about half way through) and took place in an afternoon. It's truly amazing how little time it can take to change something that's been affecting your appearance for most of you life.
The overall pain upon waking up after the procedure was minimal. My chin and my jaw were stiff and sore more than anything. Following his recommended recovery steps I could already see a major difference in just a few days after most of the swelling had subsided.
The next few weeks were relatively simple. Clean the minor scar under my chin a few times a day. Wear my compression garment when I slept at night. And just take it easy and let myself heal. It worked. And it's still working.
I'm now almost 8 weeks out from the procedure and I could not be happier. It's completely changed my appearance and my confidence level.
Plastic surgery is not something to be taken lightly but to some of us it can be a life changing experience. I'm incredibly grateful to Dr. Nichter and his staff for all of the help they provided me and I couldn't recommend them more.

So happy for you! Congrats on getting healthy and thank you for sharing your experience. We'd love to see your photos (even of just your lower face)!
