I had my Allergan silicone gel implants placed in...

I had my Allergan silicone gel implants placed in June 2011. I was 29 at the time and was done having kids. I had wanted implants since I was 9 years old. I used to tell people I had "triangle boobs" before getting implants. In hindsight, I had great, natural boobs. After nursing, all I really needed was a good lift. But NO! There was always that desire to have implants, so I went for it. I didn't realize it at the time, but I never really recovered from surgery. I have had 4 surgeries on my right leg due to injuries from a car accident and have never had trouble with recovery. However, I couldn't seem to get back to my normal self after breast augmentation surgery. I was fully committed to my busy lifestyle: I went back to school, worked full time, and was doing the single mom gig while my husband was away for work for 6 months. I guess with all of that going on, I swept not feeling well under the rug...until I couldn't. I had begun gaining weight almost immediately after my surgery while maintaining a Paleo lifestyle. I gained 40 pounds in 2 years with no changes to my lifestyle or diet. On top of that, I was diagnosed with severe hypothyroidism, dangerously elevated liver enzymes, adrenal fatigue, hormone disruption, fibromyalgia, and a slew of other issues. I couldn't even get myself out of bed most days. I found a wonderful internist who used the holistic route first, and got some of my levels on track. The scary part was that my liver enzymes were getting higher and higher with every visit even though I switched to an all organic diet and stopped using ALL commercial products in an effort to lower my toxicity levels. I was hopeless. Then I had an epiphany and thought in order to be as "crunchy" as possible, I need to remove my implants. With research I realized my illnesses had to be caused by these toxic things. I found Dr Chun through support forums and scheduled surgery with him ASAP! He was very supportive of my decision, but made sure to keep it real with me that my illnesses might not just disappear with this surgery. I respected his honesty and the reason why he said those things. I had surgery 3/26/15. I have never been more stressed out in my life. The anticipation is so much worse than being on the other side. Dr. Chun performed an En-Bloc with total capsulectomy and discovered that my right implant was severely ruptured. He said in his 20 years he hadn't seen anything like it. Surgery ended up being about an hour longer than scheduled due to the rupture and extra work needed. He's big on anti-nasseau which I really appreciated because recovery at the surgery center was a breeze. I went home within an hour. I had post-op the following day which was quick and painless. As far as recovery has gone, I was off of pain meds 2 days after surgery. (Everyone is different, so listen to your own body). I felt SO GOOD even after day 1. I am a little skeptical when people say how they had instant results, but holy cow! I didn't have any aching in my joints for the first time in years. SO BIZARRE! Even though I was recovering from major surgery, I had tons of energy. I am extremely dependent on my thyroid medicine, so this was a huge deal for me. My incisions are amazing. Dr. Chun is extremely conscious of the aesthetics involved in this procedure. I will begin wearing the silicone scar strips at 1 month post-op. Although I was off of my pain meds, I personally wasn't comfortable driving right away. I drive a big SUV and I didn't feel like I was ready. That is probably the only thing that took time. I LOVE my results SO MUCH!!! I wish I would have known then what I know now. Little boobies are the best. I can't wait to do yoga again and see how much further I can reach across my body. Big boobs also make us look about 20 lbs heavier than we actually are. Even though I have only lost 6 lbs, I look like I have dropped a ton more weight. There is so much to my story, but this chapter gives me hope. I am confident that things are only going to get better from here. I will post more pictures when I get them off my phone. Unfortunately I only have the one as a "before" reference.

Dr. Chun is AWESOME! He is there to give you honest answers and realistic advice. He never fluffed the truth about what I should expect. Once he realized there was a rupture, he reassured me that my intuition with my body was spot on. He tells you the truth, which is what you should want. If you want someone to tell you what you want to hear, you need to re-evaluate what you're doing to yourself. My results are beautiful and I am only 3 weeks post op. Side note: Dr. Chun's staff is one of best office staffs I have ever encountered. Sincerely great girls working in there.
