First and foremost, I did my research. Dr. Nichter...
WORTH IT
First and foremost, I did my research. Dr. Nichter was the best choice. His before and after gallery pictures were great. The initial consultation was informative and conducted in a more relaxed environment without the nerve wrecking "doctor's office feel." There are several follow up appointments and open lines of communication with staff which is extremely helpful and sets your mind at ease. I knew I wanted saline implants and the size but I had no idea there were several manufactures and textures and shapes. During the consultation I was able to feel and look at many different types, not just the one "they recommended" (which I felt some surgeons were pushing on me). The only thing I needed to narrow down was the incision. After A LOT Of back and forth, I opted to have the transaxillary incision, which is an incision through armpit area. I decided on this because I did not want any scarring of any kind on the actual breast. I know that this is not very popular but I felt confident that Dr. Nichter would deliver. Since this is not a popular incision (judging from my own research) there were a few things I would have like to have known.
First, is that through the healing process aside from the severe discomfort in the breast area, you will have limited arm range and mobility. Since my pain meds did more harm than good, I did not take them. The pain and discomfort was intense the first few days and the incision area remained numb, tingly, uncomfortable during the first few weeks. Each week I gained a bit more mobility but it took me by surprise. I kept thinking: Is this normal?
Second, you cannot shave or use deodorant for a while. About 6 weeks-ish.
Lastly, the scar under one arm healed at a different rate than the other.
I was so distraught by the uncomfortable upright sleeping and discomfort that I did feel like: OMG what did I do? Even though, I read this in my research, I will repeat: It is normal to feel that way.
I am about 2 months in and they look pretty great. My partner was not all that excited for me to go forward with this but the look and feel far surpassed his expectations. I followed my doctors orders every week and tried not to stray. I started the "massage" when he told me and have maintained the schedule religiously. In turn, my breast are quite soft (far softer than even I expected) and my right breast which was initially higher has positioned itself lower. Both Breast are now more even. Again, initially you will react, even though you will read this is NORMAL, but its almost inevitable to freak out. However, TIME is key. You forget the pain, discomfort, and swollen initial look and (if you have Dr. Nichter) you will feel happy with a nicely progressing "boob job." People at work have not noticed but in public I have gotten several compliments. But most importantly I feel really good about my decision.
I currently still have some tingling and even minor nerve or tiny spasm near the incision but its not painful. My breasts do not hurt at all. I will continue to do the breast massage and am looking forward to the final product.
