I would do this again in heartbeat. Tomorrow....

I would do this again in heartbeat. Tomorrow. Worth every penny.

I work hard, work out, eat right, am fit etc. But after 2 kids my formerly chiseled chin/ jawline was carrying baby weight I could not get rid of - it made me look older and chubbier than I am.

I JUST WANTED MY PRE-BABY JAWLINE BACK: And I got it! Dr. Nichter discussed a chin implant as well, so I did that too - and would do it again -- but it was important to discuss what size was a right fit for my face - A doc needs to have the eye of an artist to make changes that make a big difference but still make you look like you (NATURAL!) - I was very concerned about looking "plastic" or not like me -- but this is a very subtle procedure that almost no one can tell what you did - you just look "prettier" "so good" "amazing" "lost a lot of weight" "look younger" -- all compliments I've gotten (many by close friends who have noooo idea what I did) .

Dr. Nichter has a great eye/ aesthetic. Or as my husband (typical dude who does not understand plastic surgery) keeps saying when I walk in the room "Oh yeah, I remember that face. That's the girl I used to date 10 years ago" ; )

PROCEDURE - I opted for local in office and it was great (I'm pretty tough, can take pain, it was not bad). Consultant Stephanie was amazing walking me through everything/ what to expect (it is very emotional to do something to your face/ deal with swelling and have to wait to see what it's going to look like -- and Stephanie was very reassuring, preached patience, she was right). Also Nurse Kate was super amazing at making me feel comfortable and relaxed going in -- all the ladies in the office are so experienced and nurturing and have seen it all, they will answer every question, walk you through how to prepare, how to take care of yourself after (arnica, vitamins, compression garments, icing, etc). You really have to get yourself ready. It's not a teeth cleaning. It's SURGERY.

TIME OFF WORK - Personally I think 1 good week to hide out, deal with bruising (min was minimal), sleep A LOT, let your body really heal - is worth it. And even after two days, I was running light errands, but I did not want to be at work, in meetings. I preferred to lie low so I could keep icing, have 24 hour compresion garment on my head (no one needs to see that publicly).

HEALING/ SORENESS/ LIPOSUCTION LUMPS-HARD SPOTS -- So one thing I think a lot of people don't know/ expect are little lumps/ scar tissue that are common with lipo. They usually go away, but it helps to massage them to "break down that scar tissue faster" - I had one under my chin - but it's already gone b/c kept massaging it. And I had two spots under one of my arms, but those are mostly gone now too. (and it's only been about 5 weeks). My face/ chin did feel numb/ tight but it's all coming back too. The biggest change for me was the first 10 days- 3 week mark -- then supposedly you keep tightening/ healing for several months. But I'm only 40, pretty young looking, so I feel like things have snapped into place faster. I do have a little one inch scar under my chin that no one sees anyway (makeup covers it) and should continue to fade.

LIPOSUCTION UPPER ARMS - This is also one of those not-fair spots that can get fat after babies. I've done so many damn push ups/ planks/ weights and my arms looked BARELY different. So I lipo'd my arms with my chin. AMAZING RESULTS. All those muscles I'd worked out that were hiding under that fat have just "popped out." Lean arms are also one of those things that make one look instantly younger/ thinner overall. FULL DISCLOSURE: The arms hurt the worst, especially above my back elbow, they are still a little sore if I press hard. But not so bad I can't exercise (I started gently exercising after 10 days - but GENTLY - and have slowly ramped up - that worked best for me - everyone's different ).

But I'm actually more excited to work my arms out now b/c I can actually see the results!!

OVERALL - Dr. Nichter and his staff were kind, smart, down to earth, thoughtful, informative and easy to engage with. I mean, if you're going to let someone cut and change your face, you need to trust that they know what they are doing, have a great eye, so YOU GET THE RESULT YOU WANT. You need to feel comfortable articulating what you want, and the Doc needs to do well explaining REALISTIC options/ maybe offer things you haven't considered, educating you so you get what you want - it's a relationship between you and the doctor. And Dr. Nichter was GREAT. I researched far and wide and he was the best.

And so was the staff (it REFLECTS WELL when a doctor has a good team around them; that support staff can make or break a patients experience).

ALSO BE A GOOD PATIENT - I think that helps get you a good result. Listen. Don't be delusional. Understand that healing is a PROCESS (its not a TV show)... this can be a very emotional experience (first few days of swelling were scary for me) - you need to be informed so you don't freak out, take care of yourself, remember it is TEMPORARY. I started looking real good real fast.

Honestly, I could not be happier. I feel more beautiful, more confident and most of all -- I still look like me!! Just better. Like waaaay better ; )
