Laser Destroyed my Life
jody4910June 30, 2018
Fraxel and precision FX and Dr Rubinstein have ruined my life. I had tried to back out of the procedures but his staff worked very hard to convince me to do it. Worst decision of my life, my face is ruined. Dr. Rubinstein said it didn’t work but would not acknowledge the damage. The first thing was a scar from the corner of my lip down to underneath my chin, loss of fat in my chin with extreme wrinkling, the left side of my face is destroyed. He offered to give me my money back, which ended up only being half because he said he could only return his fee. I then got fillers which must have masked the damage on the whole left side of my face. But for a few months now the fillers have been gone and damage is glaring. I’ve been searching for a way to fix this because my life is just destroyed, I don’t even want to leave the house. I had been going to him for years for Botox and fillers and I wish I left it at that. My advice is if you are having laser make sure it’s someone who does it everyday, many times a day all year not a couple of times a year. The cost was high financially and to my life. People always commented on how nice my skin wS now friends ask “what happened to your face?” I have found one of the top laser dermatologist in the country in San Diego and have sent pictures and he thinks he can help me. Amazing, he’s going to use like 5 different lasers and do my neck and chest and cost is less than Dr. Rubinstein.

I’m sorry that happened to you. I hope you’ve seen some improvement in the time that’s passed.

It has only gotten worse. Aug 19 I fly to San Diego to one of the top laser dermatologist in the country to see if he can make improvements. I’m sure I will need fat transfer as well. It’s just so sickening, I have sunk into a deep depression and basically don’t leave my house.

went to a well respected dermatologist today to get his opinion. He said, severe laser damage, including waxy skin, hypo pigmentation, scarring and laxity. I got it all, my face looks like a battleground. My life is so destroyed, I don't go out of the house, can't concentrate on anything but this overwhelming damage. He also took notice of the poorly placed fillers above my upper lip. Please if you are reading this pray that the laser dermatologist im going to in San Diego can help me.

I'm sorry. I sincerely hope that you find both a solution to your skin problems and some legal recourse. I was an average looking middle aged woman. Now I scare little kids, and my coworkers think I have something they can catch. Yay cosmetic dermatology.

I hope it goes well for you with the doc in SD. I use lasers for other capacities and it is crucial that the practitioner not go too deep or too much in one area too soon. It can create funnels in the skin and a resultant scarring and sinking. So sorry you have had this happen. I hope you receive excellent care and results out West!!

Hi. Didn't have the same things done, but I'm in the same place you are. Disastrous results from a Vivace RF, one of three. This was done four days ago, and my face and neck are covered with tiny red dots, maybe 250 or 300 total. The first two days, there were welts also. Nothing I discovered on the internet before or since mentioned anything like this. I'm in my mid fifties. Should have just let nature take its course under the sunscreen. I'm low income. I do not know what to do.

I too wish I had let nature take its course, bad thing is I had good skin, was just trying to keep it that way. It’s devastating. Good luck with your skin...your still early in healing process.

This is an Addendum to my Earlier Review.

I Must add, Ive also had a lot of fat loss due to the aggressive way he used the laser on my face. The first place I noticed it was my chin and Dr. Rubinstein kept saying it didn't come from that. Well, If I didn't have all those dents and lines before laser but there after, thats what they came from. My upper lip, which started with some smokers lines is a mangled mess. My left cheek is totally destroyed as you can see in the picture I posted with the first review. Not only is it filled with criss cross lines, holes and wrinkles it has lost a tremendous amount of fat.I can only say that Dr. Rubinstein has destroyed my life, as a plastic surgeon he should have known how NOT to do damage. I'm just praying that in August when I go to see a top laser dermatologist he can make an improvement and after that probably fat grafting if that is even a possibility as it is possible there is so much damage that fat grafting won't take. But, he insisted on saying that I just wasn't making collagen. If that is the case then why wasn't my forehead or around eyes destroyed, because he used a lower setting and less passes.

I have also had damage from Laser, actually with IPL, which left a scar on my left cheek from a number of years ago. Lasers are unpredictable and damaging when something goes wrong. I had fraxel at Dr. Rubinstein to try to get rid of the scar from the IPL (done somewhere else). I did one treatment out of 3 that was recommended. I did not like it and refused to get the 2nd and third treatment. A lady that worked there at the time, gave me a bit of a hard time when I asked for my money back for the treatments I did not get. That left me with a bad feeling. He did not do the treatment, thank goodness. He suggested I get precision Tx to tighten my jawline. I am looking into it, but got a bad gut feeling letting him do it for some reason and after reading this am glad I have chosen to not go to him. Still researching and looking for the right doc. So sorry about your experience, it's not right. Will pray for you.

Hi. I can as of today I still struggle with texture issues especially on my left cheek, chin and upper lip. It’s definitely very much improved but it’s still there. Interestingly enough people often comment that I have nice skin but it glares at me. I’m not sure what my next step is but I’ve been following Dr Chestnut on Instagram and am impressed with things he’s doing for scar revision and skin quality. I’ll let you know i I decide to go.

Yesterday I saw a highly respected dermatologist. He said i have severe laser damage and he's not sure it can be corrected. He also said the fillers in my lips were very bad and creating a duck bill effect. He said the damage has created laxity in skin and possible fat loss.

forgot to add hypo pigmentation and hyper pigmentation. not one positive thing came out of either treatment, I now have sagging from the precision fx because he was going to remove fat and tighten well i didn't have fat and he knew it so no tightening just sagging. one of the worst days of my life.

im so sorry this happened. i went through a similar ordeal and my face has never been the same. i have lost my identity and cannot be the person i am looking this way. youre not alone
January 30, 2019
luckly i was able to fix 70% of the damage in my face, I almost killed mysef after an ignorant used a radiofrequence machine on my whole face, ad later I furter lost volume with LaserTitan and Genesis. I found a fantastic esthetcian who has fixed my skin

I am happy you found help and your skin is so much better. Could you please explain how your skin was treated? There are so many on here looking for answers and knowledge concerning thermal injury which causes inflammation and atrophy including fat atrophy. New insights are welcome. Thank you.

So many treatments, sculptra, thermage, fractora, prp microneedling, Secret RF microneedling, IPL, laser genesis... done 4-6 apart. Now I am going to see Dr Groff and have Co2 fully ablative
February 4, 2019
Pfew wow were all those treatments with Dr Emer? Keeping fingers crossed for your ablative procedure. It is exhausting because we have been damaged by someone we trusted and then to have to trust someone again and the anticipation and worry about what they are doing to your face will turn out ok. I have an appointment in place to inform myself concerning lipofiling and LED therapy has been recommended. Please if you can, keep us informed on your ablative procedure and good luck!

No only fractora, thermage and microneedling with prp, rest have been with medical esthetician here in New York who has been fabulous
February 8, 2019
What was your damage and what have you been doing? i am 6 months out from a disastrous microneedling treatment that left me with - severe fat loss, crepey skin, lines, orange peel skin with huge pores, scarring, etc. I haven't found anything to help.

It has been a journey that still isn’t over. First I flew out to CA to see Dr Jason Emer. He did, sculptra, fractora, thermage and microneedling with PRP. It removed the cross cross lines I had all over left side of face. Then here at home I’ve been seeing Marissa a medical esthetician who has done: 3 sessions of the Secret, (RF microneedling) and 2 combo packages of IPL, Laser Genesis and microneedling.
On feb 19 I’m flying out to Dr Groff in San Diego for ultrapulse Co2. It’s a long road and I doubt it will ever be what it was. I also use medical grade skin care

Hi, I just saw your post about damage from a radio frequency machine. I have damage too. Who did you see and how did they fix it?? Thanks!
March 8, 2019
I was damaged by Co2 Fraxel repair. I have seen Dr Jason Emer and Dr William Groff for correction
July 31, 2019
How did you fix the volume loss? I also had a radio frequency treatment which has destroyed my face and now I need a fat transfer
January 31, 2019
Hi everyone,Jody your skin is looking good, you have so much more volume back I am so happy for you!. To real918 your description of loss of identity is spot on,when your face changes so much you don’t recognise yourself in the mirror anymore,it’s devastating!. I know only too well and understand how you feel,it’s impossible to feel the same as before.Wishing you all the best chrisxx

Jody
But please may I ask you about the treatment by Dr. Emer? I read he performed thermage which is controversial as well seeing the possibility of fat atrophy...I do not mean to scare you or question Dr Emer's knowledge and skills it is just I have yet to begin the road to recovery and any insights and real positive outcomes would be helpful and greatly appreciated.
