I Regret Not Going with the Full Lift - Newark, DE

Don't Waste Your Time and Money

$4,000

I had a mini-lift 5 years ago. I really regret the time, money and scars from that decision. For the first few months to a year I thought I really liked it. I was still watching as the bruises faded and the swelling went down. But after about a year it was clear that the sagging was starting again.

My neck wasn't addressed at all, so that looked and looks old. I have noticable scars around my temples and behind my ears. I have keloids behind my ears. I have one pixie ear. Lots of buck for no bang!

My doctor was extremely condescending when I came to him with issues. He tried to make me feel foolish, saying he never promised to address my neck (it was the first thing he showed me proudly when he talked to me after surgery), said I was born with a pixie ear (as if I don't own any pictures of myself before surgery!), and told me to keep massaging my scars to make them go away. Obviously 5 years of massaging should be enough if it was ever going to work.

Well, I'm feeling really regretful and of course there's no evidence now that I had anything done. I'm looking into getting something done that will actually make a difference, but I'm not sure what.

I am not looking forward to going through the pain, and recovery again, but I really want something.

Any recommendations in the delaware/philadelphia area would be much appreciated!

I had a mini lift in January of 2015, at the age of 53. I wanted to address jowls, sagging lower face and my neck. I was really excited to find a surgeon with a good reputation doing these for such a great price (4K). I was awake with local anesthesia in his office during the surgery, which is why the cost is so low. Much to my surprise, (and thanks to the Valium), it was pretty easy for me. Like a lot of the reviewers on this site I was very happy at first. The swelling lasts for quite a long time (probably a year), and it really does a lot to rejuvenate the face. Even my neck looked better, even though my doctor was careful to let me know that this would not be addressed in this lift. The jowls were gone, my cheeks looked full and young again, my jaw line was sharp and youthful and my neckline was perfect! It took about a year for me to realize that the sagging was coming back. I was certainly not the same as I was before the surgery, but the swelling was definitely done by then. My jawline wasn't as sharp anymore. My cheeks were a little slack, and my nasiolabial lines were back with a vengeance. I'm using filler for that.
I really regret not spending the extra money on a full lift. I think I would be a lot happier. I still have to deal with the same scars for the rest of my life. I can't imagine doing this again. It took a lot of convincing to get my husband on board the first time! And taking 2 - 3 weeks off work just to hide in the house isn't easy. So, with that in mind, I would advise people to really consider spending the extra money and getting a result that's worth the scars and recovery time.

Thank you for sharing your experience!

Did your surgeon adjust the Smas? I’ve heard this about the mini lift. Mini lift mini results. I’m thinking of doing a deep plane lift . Are you going to do a revision at some point?
