After watching Dr. 90210 on Netflix...I couldn't help but to think about getting a nose job. I am 36,male and Hispanic. I consider myself to be a good looking guy, have 2 beautiful girls from previous relationships, recently divorced luckily that marriage did not produce a child. My nose was underprojected which caused a bulbous tip and slightly flared nostrils and a droopy look. Not concerned with the width of the nose, since it was equivalent with the width of my eyes. I went on a couple of consultations, here in NYC. I, first, checked out the cheaper places like NYEE & Lenox Hill. Consultation at NYEE went pretty well, but you could tell that eventhough the surgeon was a very intelligent guy and well-read, he lacked actual experience not only in the O.R, but also with people (or at least with me). Consultation at Lenox HIll went better, met with Dr. Ghersi which he was already Board Certified/Diplomate. He examined my nose, feeling it at different angles and looked inside of it as well (something that the Dr. at NYEE did not do). He answered my questions and I felt pretty comfortable with him enough to schedule a surgery date. The Dr. said that my nose (septum/bridge) was perfectly straight and I will just need a little cephalic trim, columella graft to augment it a little, and a nasal sill to relieve the nostril flare (not the width of the nose). I had set up a few other consultations as well with other other doctors, but I decided to cancel them. Eventhough, there isn't much info on the net on Dr. Ghersi, I just felt comfortable with him, especially since he was a male and Latin as well.

The reason why I am writing this review is twofold:
1. To give back to RealSelf and help someone going or thinking of going through this.
2. To review Dr. Ghersi, since I did not find any reviews of him on the net.

Well, I had my rhinoplasty yesterday. Since, I've recently developed some high blood pressure tendencies (primarily due to working the 3rd shift and not getting enough sleep during the day) there was talk of maybe cancelling the operation due to the high blood pressure readings, but the anesthesiologists and my doctor decided to do a local sedation instead, which was fine with me as long as it was fine with them. All day I was thinking of backing out and not going through it and this feeling spiked up even more when being ushered into the operating room. I literally wanted to run out...but the nurse asked me to lay down and I obliged and told myself to relax. I woke up during the last 20-30 minutes of the operation, I saw my doctor doing something to my nose and I quickly closed my eyes..LOL and did not opened them until he was done. I felt a little too good, after, a little sleepy and drowsy but no pain at all. Actually, I haven't felt any pain yet at all, I took a pain pill yesterday, just in case, but am planning not to do so unless I do feel some pain. I was prescribed antibiotics, pain killers, and high-blood pressure pills.

Worth it rating undecided...just waiting on the swelling and the stitches to be removed, but it does look good so far.

Pictures...at some point in the next few days I will post some pics.
