Starting Process with Picosure

4 weeks after first tx

$50
Hi guys-I hope everyone is doing well. Tomorrow is four weeks after my first treatment so here's an updated pic of the area I posted last time. The redness/brownness is going away, slowly. My "raised" skin is also going down. I'm pretty sure it's just "raised" because my skin is super dry. I also started using seaweed soap. Doesn't smell the greatest but my skin is so soft! It helps to gently exfoliate and actually increase blood flow. Lastly, started drinking 2 tablespoons of Bentonite which is supposed to help with detoxifying heavy metals!! Don't know if this stuff works, but better than nothing I suppose. I am ready for this itching to be over with though. -_-

So interesting, seaweed soap...need to find some of that! Thanks for the tip :)  I have looked into the Bentonite, right now I am using Essiac, maybe I will try that after. Thanks for the update :) everything is looking great, so faded!!
Hello there. I am also using an organic soap to wash the skin area being lasered :) Thanks for sharing about the Bentonite. I will have to get one too - my fading is so progressive and I am very happy. This is great info, thank you.
If the rest of the tattoo is/was like that then it already looks like you've got hardly any ink left behind that redness!!
Glad to hear things seem to be settling down :) You're picture doesn't appear to have uploaded, and your previous picture also looks to have vanished?

Question--Raised Skin

Question for you guys, it's been almost four weeks since my first treatment and my skin is still slightly raised. I wonder if this is because such a large area was treated. I have been slathering bio oil and lotion on it everyday, but I think I am going to leave it alone a bit to allow my skin to breathe and shed that layer of skin (as gross as that sounds). I believe it's starting to go down a bit. Is this normal? It's really only a bit raised in the areas that were the darkest. Any advice would be so appreciated!!

I don't think raised skin following treatment is too uncommon, but 4 weeks seems like quite a while. From reading, the raised skin is a normal auto-immune response to the trauma of the laser, and being your first treatment I imagine the body might be overcompensating, as it doesn't know what the hell just happened! I would imagine that it should subside soon. Perhaps, like you say, ease off on putting anything on it for a few days which could be perpetuating things, and see how it's looking.
Thanks, Wilks! I talked to my laser tech and she said it's normal, especially since we treated such a large area. My boyfriend was looking at it last night and said it definitely seems to be going down and was actually the one that recommended holding off on the lotions to allow it to dry out for a bit. Feeling a bit down today. I was feeling so great after my first treatment, but now I am having one of those "will my tattoo ever go away" moments. Womp.
Yeah, I think that sounds like a good plan - let your body do it's thing, it's a master-healer. Now you've had you're first post-treatment down moment, your officially on the 'journey' (hate that cliché, but it's the best way to describe it). You'll experience a myriad of different emotions whilst going through this thing. You'll go through down days, up days, numb days, anxious days, angry days.. the whole lot, unfortunately that's how it's gonna go, but you'll adapt around it and cope with it, don't worry. Remember, you're very early in this.... it'll get easier, trust me. I have my whinging days, and sometimes I can't help but have a little rant on here, but the fact is I'm making progress, as is everyone else on here, and now you are too :)
Awh, thank you for your kind words! It means a lot! I am really hoping that my tattoo will be mostly gone by the end of the year. I'm hoping the fact that it's mainly shading ends up being in my favor. You've had such great fading! Hopefully by the end of the year this will all be a distant memory for you.
You're welcome. I hope you're right! :)
Hey there, I have had some raised areas - gosh ...I am pretty sure more than 2 weeks..but in any case I did some research on the site and found this:

NORMAL TO HAVE SOME RAISED SKIN THAT LOOKS LIKE A SCAR 4 WEEKS AFTER A LASER TATTOO REMOVAL?

Feel free to ask a Doctor on site as well - if you can add an updated photo that would be great :)
Thanks, Eva! It actually seems to already be going down now that I'm not saturating it in as much lotion/oil. I'm pretty sure it's just dry skin that's still trying to heal.

My routine

So, I noticed some folks sharing what they do to boost their fading. I figured I would do the same with the hopes it may help others.
1. I take a daily vitamin, a garlic supplement (I use garlite, garlic is great for your immune system!!), and 2 fish oil tablets (sardines mainly) before bed.
2. I drink nothing but water, but when I am craving something sweet, I'll drink a bottle of cranberry juice.
3. I massage bio oil onto the area twice a day and rose hip oil once a day.
4. Between the oils, I don't use much else, but I do use cocoa butter and sunscreen. Besides, figured the extra massage won't hurt. Massaging 3 or more times a day might seem like overkill, but I believe it really does help!
5. Lastly, I exercise everyday. I do a variety of cardio and weight lifting. I am training to compete in the NPC in 2015, so I gotta keep up with the exercise! It really gets the blood flowing which helps!!! Great stress relief for those who are having a hard time with their tattoo as well. I was super dome at first about this whole ordeal, but getting to the gym/working out really does help.
Well, that's all for now, I guess. Hope everyone is doing well.

Thanks for the tips! Very helpful!
Anytime! :)
Great update, your doing all the right stuff - love to hear it!! Garlic is wonderful, it's actually classified as a medicinal herb.

Good luck in your NPC competition!!
Thank you, Eva! I love garlic, so good! :)
Ps-sorry for all the typos, everyone. I'm usually on my tablet and it's tricky to type at times!
Hello there. I just had my 1st laser treatment yesterday, and so glad I came across your post prior to it. I loved that you shared your routine, and so I made a checklist for myself as well to keep myself reminded and maximize the potential of the laser treatment. I really want mine to fade as quickly as possible too. Thanks so much for sharing, and hopefully you stay posted so we know the outcome of your journey. Wish you the best of luck.
Congratulations on your first treatment. Are you having treatments with the PicoSure? I remember being so down about my tattoo. However, I am doing better now that my first treatment is done. Just gotta buckle down and prepare myself for the long process ahead, lol.
Hey there. I am getting treated with the Q Switched laser, it is the better one for my skin type. Well, we have to stay positive - I guess all of us here are being taught what patience is all about :) Hopefully we'll get to the end sooner than later - I can't wait :(
That's great that you're doing the Q. It's still a great laser. My tattoo is large, about 9 x 6. Your tattoo appears to be pretty small (I could tell by the pics in your questions to the docs), so you should have great results. :)
