My hair has in fact continued to thin. Dr. Prasad suggested that I take finasteride. However, the very reason I opted to fly halfway across the country and spend thousands of dollars on this treatment was to avoid that particular modality.

My hairline has thickened very much. Comparatively, I was able to see my scalp through my hair in months leading up to this. However, I recently got a haircut and my barber cut my hair much shorter that I wanted. I was able to see that my mid-scalp has gotten significantly thinner as compared to what it looked like pre-op. So I let my hair grow to determine wether or not my barber made a mistake while cutting my hair. And now 2 weeks after my haircut, nothing seems to change. However, I know this treatment induces the shedding of thinning hairs so thicker hairs can grow in and I did experience an increase in shedding of hairs for a few days. So I will continue to monitor my mid-scalp to see if any change occurs.

I honestly didn't know what to expect from my PRP treatment with Doctor Prasad. Quite frankly, I was slightly skeptical, but I maintained an optimistic perspective about it and I have had tremendous growth within 2 and a half months of my operation! My mid-scalp was one of several focal points of balding but as shown the the pictures, my hair is growing back!
FYI- I do NOT take finasteride due to the possible side effects, therefore my hair growth is solely conducive to the PRP treatment.

great results, congratulations!
is it result only from one PRP session? do you also use minoxidil or LLLT?

Yep, one session that'll last 5-6 years if that. Dr. Prasad has said none of his patients from 6 years ago have come back for a secondary injection. I haven't used ANYTHING whatsoever.

Your photos look amazing! May I ask, did you have PRP or something surgical? I am so depressed. My hair is thinning and I am taking supplements, protein, collagen powder, keratin powder, MSM powder...everything under the sun including specialty shampoos and conditioners that block DHT. Nothing seems to stop the shedding. My doctor even put me on Minoxidil and Finasteride a year ago and sadly the thinning is still happening. I almost cry when I look in the mirror. I'm in my mid-twenties and feel like I'm in my mid-forties when I see my hair. Your photos give me hope in this depressing time.

I'm very sorry to hear that. I'm all to familiar with the feeling of waking up first thing in the morning and looking at your hair and being extremely saddened by the way it looks. But to answer your question, as mentioned in the review, my hair growth is solely conducive to the treatment and nothing else.

Hello, I'm also suffering from hair loss and looking to have the same procedure done. We're the doctors able to tell you the root cause of your hair loss ? I believe mine is genetics (MPB) if thats the case in not sure if it will work for me or not.

Also may I add that I am also African American. I understand that our hair textures are far different than other races. What was your experience with that ? (I'm also thinning alot more than you were)
August 13, 2017
Dr. Prasad didn't clinically diagnose the cause of my baldness, although I can conclude that my cause of balding is in fact, genetic. My balding pattern is quite similar to my father's(albeit his worse.) So to answer your question, this treatment can to stimulate hair growth although you are suffering from genetic hair loss. I can completely empathize with your question as not very many hair specialist specialize in the care of African American hair, so it marginalizes the options of those who suffer from MPB. But to answer your question, of course I'm sure that there were some precautions taken in administering this treatment, but it seemed to be standard among all demographics from the information that I was given.

How many treatments did you have?
August 21, 2017
Just saw you in another reply you had one treatment. Wow, your Dr charged $3,100? The Cleveland Clinic only charges $500.

He's in NYC, the doctors here overcharge as their rents are very high. May be worth tried to other states for certain procedures
