I've always had exceptionally large lips. I had been Bullied growing up in grade school because I hadn't grown into them and still in my adulthood people have a hard time taking me seriously, I think because of my lips. I also still get bullied -- considering most ppl don't have big lips, mine get a lot of negative attention. And what is ironic is my friends tell me they love my gigantic lips but they always use the word gigantic which they don't realize is hurtful.
Also my career goals are to make it to television as an actor, and or to perform on Broadway and while I own my image I can't turn a blind eye to the fact that I will always be judged by my appearance when auditioning for work so it's important to me to put my best face forward:) so to speak
I got my lips reduced today by the same Doctor that did my nose job. This man as an astute eye for aesthetics and I trust him. He told me I would be very swollen but I had no idea I would like as crazy as I do . I'm writing this review to find support during this awkward phase and to educate ppl out there who have large lips like myself and who are considering having this procedure.

I'm literally going Thursday and your swelling is scaring me. Also did it hurt? Where you under local? Thanks wishing the best recovery!

they look better now, the shape of them are gorgeous! i made sure to ask him about the 'bikini lip reduction' which is a more aesthetic take on the lip reduction, so even now while they're more swollen than usual the shape are appealing...which is refreshing. just yesterday i received a compliment on my lips even tho i'm still very self conscious!:)

i was awake, they numbed the lips tho and i didn't feel a thing. the only pain i experienced was the bad swelling the day after. but that's nothing the vicodin can't fix ;)

I got it done today and my gosh the swollen is PAINFUL! How long did your swelling last after the first day?

The 'swelling ' is normal. With 'lip reduction.' You have to look 'worse' to look 'better' but the swelling is 'Temporary ' .

Make sure you start massaging the lips to break up the scar tissue as the area heals. You have to hold the lip between your fingers and roll it back and forth with some pressure. That's super important and your dr should have instructed you on that!

he took out 8cc to account for a look of about 6cc -- he accounted for the scar tissue. but i'm grateful for the new tips.

I had NO upper lip and was made fun of too but I got a little filler finally at 40 and I feel so much better about myself:) funny how it goes iu htink u had to much i think i had to little:)

June 17th is my 3 month post op and my lips are still pretty swollen. he took a lot out so i'm guessing it will take that much longer for all the swelling to subside. the lips don't allow for lymphatic drainage so swelling is typical and lasts a while. i'm remaining patient and positive!:)

thanks for the photo, you look great!!! So you're saying you still have swelling... are you expecting them to become any smaller? Any pain at this point, and do you have any "bumps" from the scar inside your mouth?

Thank you! There's no pain and I'm only expected 2-5% shrinkage at a year post op which isn't a lot, but I will notice the difference. I do feel the little bumps along the bottom lip but they aren't a big concern as I have to press my tongue hard against the lip to feel them.

Dude, you look fantastic! So happy for you! I myself had bullying as a child but for my ears that stuck out. having them altered surgically changed everything. Invest in yourself! Continued success to you! :)
