Finally Some Movement

Haven’t posted in a while as I Just started to see movement with tray 7 and major movement with tray 8. I had .5 IPR in between the lower cuspids and incisors on both sides at week 6. Turns out I should have had it done a little earlier at trays 3 or 4 per my Orthodontist. I also had .5 IPR between the lower cuspids and bicuspids this week. That should complete the IPR process unless something unexpected happens (crosses fingers). I am now on tray 9. These are the tightest trays so far, followed by tray 5 and tray 1, so hopefully there will be noticeable movement.

The pics show that both bottom and top teeth have started to shift back and the gap in the front top teeth is narrower. I’m happy with the progress so far.

Week 4

Updating late due to work and nothing to report regarding the 2nd set of trays.
After completion of the 3rd set, there appears to be minimal movement of the bottom incisor (see attached picture). It looks like it is overlapping the other incisor a little more, or it could just be my imagination. That is also where some IPR will be done, so hopefully if the tooth is moving it’s moving in the right direction.

I just started tray 4 yesterday. Each set of trays makes my mouth and tongue sore the first few days, so I have to pull out the nail file and dental wax. It usually takes a week for my mouth to feel normal. The top tray on this set is really snug and takes a little longer to remove.

I’ve gotten into a pretty good routine now. I use hand soap (regular and anti-bacterial) and I soak the trays in a 50/50 mix of hydrogen peroxide and water once a day (as mentioned by previous posters) and brush. As I mentioned before, I travel a lot and my profession is not 9 to 5 so I have to be creative in these situations. I tend to rinse a lot more during the day and chew sugarless gum with Xylitol instead of brushing after every meal. If I’m having lunch I will soak them in a glass of water and rinse them before I put them back in my mouth. I carry a small plastic sprayer bottle with me to spritz them in case I can’t rinse them under the faucet. I also bought a new product: Fresh Guard by Efferdent(see picture). They are alcohol free wipes that are supposed to be safe for removable braces. I will be traveling for a week and these will definitely come in handy. I’ll provide a review when I get back.

That’s it for now, I will update as changes occur.

I was told by the dentist that I have a tongue...

I was told by the dentist that I have a tongue thrust and that is what is causing my bottom teeth to space. I read a lot of reviews including ones on this site and initially thought getting Invisalign would be too much of a hassle. I took a real hard look at my teeth and decided to take the plunge. I also spoke to my friend who has had them for a year, and with a few inconveniences she is happy with the treatment so far.

My treatment plan is for a year and I just completed my first week. It was quite an adjustment. I had to fly the next day after I received my trays. It was a balancing act trying to brush and rinse my teeth especially with connections. I bought a baby's toothbrush which was great for fitting into the tray grooves. I had a very hard time taking out the trays as described in the booklet and by my dentist. So I grab them from the outside of each side instead. I also bought some dental wax and a file as the trays were very irritating the first three days.

I will post updates as changes occur.
