Don't Recommend the Doctor - New York

I was going to New York, flying from Qatar (a 14 hour flight) and found an office with Dr. Senderoff. They reassured me that it was fast recovery as I has a very important meeting a few days later. I asked if they had a specialist with eyebrows who would be able to draw an eyebrow shape which was suitable to my face and they said that Dr. Senderoff would have help with that. On the day of the procedure I saw the Dr and felt he was very dismissive of me. He took me into a room for the procedure and their were 2 ladies there. 1 of them asked me to draw my own eyebrows on which confused me. I explained to her I don't know how to do it because I'm not an eyebrow specialist. They started to draw them with a marker and I explained that I don't think they should be starting off with a marker because it will be difficult to wife off. They asked me what I would suggest and I said an eyebrow pencil is the right thing to use until we agree on the shape. Dr. Senderoff went to one of the ladies at the front desk to ask for an eyebrow pencil. Very unprofessional. They were doing a very bad job although I showed them a picture of what I was looking for. They started to get very annoyed with me and called me a difficult patient, but this is my face! I'm not going to settle for something I'm not convinced suits me, especially when they didn't have an eyebrow specialist at hand. They didnt even know avout the eywbrow measurement to make the eyebrow proportionate to the face and I had to show them a picture for them to understand. After a while of me fixing what they did they laid me down to start the procedure. To my surprise, Dr. Senderoff left the room and one of the ladies started to operate on me. As she was operating she told me that she's not used to doing eyebrows (was too late for me to get up and run for it!) When I specifically asked if Dr. Senderoff had a lot of experience in eyebrow implants and they said yes. Operating on eyebrows is very different to the head because the hairs have to all go in different directions depending on the area of the eyebrow. When they finished they pulled me up rushing me to get out of the room. I told them I was feeling very light headed so they placed me on a chair in an open area to rest. I was looking pretty bad with red bloody eyebrows and extremely swollen eyes so the last thing I wanted was people walking around and seeing me. Staff kept on walking to me because the staff fridge was next to me so they were getting their food. The lady who was operating on me came next to me and started to count the money she made from the procedure and just left. She didn't ask me if I was ok or anything. I walked to the front desk and asked if they could order me a cab and they told me to go down and hail one. I told them i wasn't feeling well and I'm not comfortable with people looking at my face like that so they got me one. I went back to the hotel and I was vomiting continuously and my head started to bleed alot all.over my face and clothes. I called the doctor to see if it was normal and he told me it was, but he didnt seem to really care. I wasn't even told to come back for a check up. I don't like complaining but I don't recommend them at all. The doctor didn't operate on me himself when he should have. The person operating on me didn't have much eyebrow implant experience. My eyebrows aren't the same and on one eyebrow she implanted a white hair. They operated with the door open and put me on a chair in an open area when I wasn't feeling well. They didn't even have a specialist to draw eyebrows as I was told they would have. Don't go there.

He was dismissive and didn't operate on me or have the proper knowledge of drawing on eyebrows before an eyebrow implant.

Welcome to the community. Thank you for taking the time to share your personal experience. I hope you find support in the community.

can you post photos ? it would be unfair to judge without them.

thank you
Hi there,

You have a valid point. I will try to post them in the next few days. I would like to emphasize that my concern was not just the eyebrows themselves (which obviously is a big problem) but the whole treatment of me as a patient and being told the Dr. would be operating on me, only to have someone else who clearly told me she does not have a lot of experience with eyebrow restoration and not having a specialist to draw on the eyebrow shape to suit my facial structure or the proper tools.
Hi Nadi1310, I would love to see the pictures as well. Hopefully your eyebrows will be fine as they regrow. You had a terrible experience. Incredible that they do not have an eyebrow specialist who can suggest the shape(s) that would suit you best and draw the shape(s) on your face until you are satisfied. I would definitely want the person who is the most experienced transplant my eyebrows.
Thank you for sharing your story. I have been interested in this procedure for over 10 years, but I'm only recently (last year or two) starting to see results that look natural. I'm finally having this procedure done sometime in the next few months. Unfortunately, as a few doctors have gotten good results, it seems like every other hair transplant specialists is jumping on the bandwagon. You obviously wound up with one of the "wanna-bes". Perhaps another more talented doctor may be able to help you repair the work? There are a few really good doctors here in the States. I'm certain someone can help you. PM if you would like my short list of the best docs. I really have been following this procedure for over a decade. Best of luck to you!
I usually do the proper research an thought I did. Obviously I should have put a bit more effort into my research. I am now back in Qatar but will surely need to fix them at one point. I would like my eyebrows though to go through the natural process of falling off and growing back for the hairs to be solid in order for the next doctor to know exactly where to transplant the hairs. I would be very happy to have a list of doctors from you!

Thanks in advance.
Sorry for the delayed response. I just now saw this message. My personal list is narrowed to Dr. Jeffrey Epstein (Miami and NYC) and Dr. Marc Dauer in Los Angeles. They both seem to consistently achieve the look I am after. I have been quoted the same price from both, and I have to travel to see either of them (although LA is closer). Pros for Epstein are that he is a plastic surgeon, as such, I expect him to have a keen eye for creating the ideal shape for my face. I am certainly NOT spending this much money so that I can continue to have to shape or make-up my brows. Also, Epstein has been doing this longer than anyone and has the portfolio to prove it. Cons for Epstein - I don't care for the vibe out of his office. They seem stressed and distant...and that is while I am a possible client. If anything does go wrong or I'm not happy for any reason, I suspect I will have a very difficult time getting help after the fact. I have read many reviews of Dr. Epstein that state he is unavailable if your not happy with final results. Concerning. My interaction with Dr. Dauer's office was much more enjoyable, relaxed, and friendly. That matters to me. Dr. Dauer has not been doing this for nearly as long as Epstein but he has a great portfolio with consistent results. He is not a plastic surgeon, but he does seem to have a very good eye for facial anatomy. There are several other doctors that I was considering (John Bitner in Utah and Sara Wasserbauer in CA) but in the end I'm choosing between the two with the largest portfolio of this procedure and consistent results. Hope this helps! I will definitely post a full review when I have the procedure.

They both seem to consistently achieve Dr. Epstein is also a I'm closer to LA so I'm leaning in that direction,
"They both seem to consistently achieve Dr. Epstein is also a I'm closer to LA so I'm leaning in that direction," Oops - obviously a typo. :-P
