Since I was 10 I have been aware that I always look tired. Even when rested. I look tired. Even when I first wake up in the morning. I look tired. This is because of my genetic eye bags. These little suckers have given me the appearance that I have, as one acquaintance put it, "been through the wringer." Looking tired does no one favors. Seeing exhaustion on my face day after day really did a number with my self-esteem. I spent hundreds or maybe thousands on ways to conceal my eye bags (cream, lotions, concealer, magic potions, eyebag ice packs, make-up, teas, and more) I bought eyeglasses before I needed prescription glasses because they helped me look less tried and hid my bags. All the while I fielded the usual ongoing comments such as "You look SO tired, are you ok???" Yet, I unconvincingly kept trying to tell myself it's what's inside that counts! But it has become harder and harder as I aged. 40, 41, 42, 43.... approaching 47 I finally felt that the time was right. Mostly I felt fed up; and happily I had finally met the right doctor. And it was time to take the leap. These photos are 12 or 13 days apart.

Wanted to add that I had the transconjuctival fat repositioning done through the inner eyelid, with a CO2 laser on skin beneath the eyes.

Hi! I got back from my consult with him, and he is exactly how you described him. Super nice and comforting. He did say fillers were an option ( 60-80% improvement), or I could have the surgery. So now I have to make my decision!?? He said he would do it from the inside and remove a little fat and redrape fat into my tear trough. Did you have done? Would you mind if I sent you a pic of me. I'd like your honest opinion. I'm just so indecisive. I need to make a decision and stick to it. I could text you a pic or email you? Thank you.

Hi stone80, I had the eyebag fat pouches removed and new fat repositioned under the eye. Yes feel free to send a photo! You can private message me through this site. Just click on my profile name and i think it gives the option. At the end of the day you should go with what your gut tells you.... its such a personal decision with so many factors. (It took me just about 20 years to decide to finally have the surgery.) One thought for you - if the surgery scares you at all you could start with fillers, see how it goes and the have surgery later depending on your experience.

Beautiful results! You look fabulous with very distinguished bone structure. I know I'll need this too. I'm postponing it with fillers for now.

My eyes are generally a bit crooked, but hey... no bags!

Hi. I don't know if I did this right, so I figured I'd try once more. I can't attach a photo and send it to you directly. But, I have 2 pictures on my page, if you type in Stone80, in the search bar I come up. just click on what comes up and you can see the pictures. Thanks a bunch! Don't think I'm doing the direct message correctly.

So weird. I messaged you directly too, but don't see anything from you. I only see what I just sent you. Can you see it? I think if you go to your "Inbox" it is there...

You look beautiful! I don't see crooked eyes anywhere:) I am actively searching for a solution to my under eye area. Did he give you anything to lighten the under eye area or did the laser resolve the darkness. Thanks for sharing!
May 2, 2017
Thank you! Nothing to lighten the area but I think the darkness which was present and has resolved was more the shadows of the bags as opposed to any discoloration of my skin or the blood vessels beneath. He suggested that the bags were the culprit but that discoloration may come in time. So far though, I am not seeing much of a change.

May 2, 2017
That makes sense! Hopefully the discoloration doesn't come in at all. I sent a consultation request through her--can't wait to go through the process. Please keep us updated on your recovery! I've been on the fence for some time now reading all the horror stories on here about fillers and fat transfers. I figured I'd have to live with this condition going forward.

Yes, honestly though I said as long as you can get rid of the bags I can deal with having to use concealer on any darkness :) But again, hoping that won't be the case and so far so good. I agree about the fillers being a bit scary to use. I am very paranoid about putting a chemical in my body like that and I also just did not want something that would wear away eventually. For me I did not see the point and wanted something permanent. Also all the stories are very scary. That being said, just to clarify I did have a fat transfer. He removed the eyebag fat and repositioned fat from my stomach in very small amounts under my eyes. He relayed all of this information to me about how eyebag fat is different than regular body fat... you should ask him about this at your consult. It's fascinating. He did this particular procedure because my eyes are so round and deep-set that they eye would have looked very bony and hollow without this step and just a fat removal. I made him detail for me that it was only my fat going back into my eyes and nothing else. I guess though that is kind of creepy and potentially open for issues too. But my reasoning was that it is made of my own body cells so unless he put too much in or there was some infection present, it seemed better and safer than a filler. Obviously I could go on and on about this! So, I will stop now, but I hope your consult goes well. If you want to post again after, please do!

I completely understand and thank you for explaining. I can deal with the darkness as well-it's the hollowness that I want fixed. I have a picture attached to a question I posted on here. Please take a look. It was posted years ago and since then the darkness has lightened up some but the deep tear troughs are still there and they irritate me! I will see Dr Kotlus in a few weeks and will post about my experience in a separate review.
