My experience with Dr. Slupchynskyj and his assistant Jana was excellent. Dr S. is a professional in every sense of the word and Jana was very pleasant from the initial conversation. I'm glad I did my research and checked 3 different Dr.s before deciding on one. (Which I believe everyone should do)
I am a 35 yr old African American male and I've had under eye bags since I was a preteen. I was always self-conscious about them and it always bothered me when people would tell me I look tired when I wasn't. As I got older, my eyes began to gradually get more puffy. Although I wear glasses for driving in the night and seeing from a distance I found myself wearing my glasses more often as a way of covering the bags and helping them be less noticeable.
I tried the Verve eye rise injection treatment by Dr Bracci in Manhattan and that was purely a waste of money. He said the injections would make me look 10 yrs younger. It definitely didn't do that. Then he said he could inject my cheeks for another $1k and that would make me look 15 yrs younger. I wasn't buying it. He knew that due to me having actual fat protruding that caused the bags, the injections wouldn't correct the issue. So there was no change after $1200 and he said 2 yrs later after a bunch of research I went for the surgery even though people told me they didn't think my bags were that bad but they did notice them.
I am now about 1 month post op and although I still have a little puffiness under both eyes more so the left eye than the right, I notice a big difference and people have mentioned that they see the difference as well. The only concern I have left is that I now have dark circles under my eyes which I've never had but I researched it and Dr S. explained that it is from the blood that settled under the skin from the surgery and this is common for people with dark pigment like mine. He advised that my body will continue to resort the blood and it can take a couple of months for it to fully lighten up. I'm fine with that as long as it lightens up and the bags continue to flatten out. Overall I'm happy with my decision to go through with the procedure and I'm glad I went with Dr. Slupchynskyj. His pricing is better was right and his bedside manner is great. Jana made me feel very relaxed from the beginning.

6 weeks Post op

After 6 weeks I'm seeing progress on a daily basis. A good amount of swelling has gone down and the dark circles are slowly fading. There's still some puffiness, more in the mornings. But a big difference from Pre-op times. Patience is key.

hello congratulation on great results, I had transconjuctival blepharoplasty (to remove eye bags) done on May 07, 2015, it has been exactly three weeks today. I still see some bruises and puffiness. Cant wait for the remaining bruising and puffiness to go away. Sometimes i get scared that it am stuck with this forever. I also notice a slight change in the shape of my eyes i hope this is from the remaining puffiness and eventually this will go away. Did you experience similar things at three weeks. Please answer i have started to get depressed. What procedure did you do to remove your eye bags. i will appreciate your help.

I definitely went through the same thought process because I thought it should be automatic but the lingering puffiness does go away. I actually had dark circles after 1.5 months because of the blood that settled under my eyes from the surgery and that was a cause for concern for me. Dr. S prescribed a bleach cream that I've used for about 6 weeks and now I the dark circles are virtually gone. I've been meaning to post a new pic which I'll do shortly.

I too had transconjunctival blepharoplasty. And the difference in the eye is due to the puffiness. You should see it going back to normal after 2 months or so

thank you so much for the reply...its great that your dark circles are gone...i always had dark circles but now coz im only three weeks post surgery the bruises are making them worse. did you always had dark circles or u only notice them after the surgery? Also if you could tell me what bleach cream for the dark circles did the doctor prescribed you. Once again thanks a lot for your reply. I really appreciate your help..and all the best

I never had dark circles so I was beginning to freak out but the Dr told me that my body would take some time to resort the blood and it was because of the iron in the blood that was getting old and settling underneath my eye skin which is very thin. He prescribed hydroquinone 4% which is very strong and costed about $100. I chose the over the counter low prescription 2% from the beauty supply store which was on about 8 or 9 bucks from what I remember. It gets the job done but just takes a little longer than the 4% and if your skin is sensitive it may irritate it.

I think you should definitely have the lower bleph procedure if the issue bothers you that much. It will change your whole feeling of your appearance.

No problem. Yesterday actually marked my 6month post op mark. I have to upload another pic. They are almost unnoticeable. I find myself looking at the old before pics trying to remember how they used to look because it seems like a lifetime ago that I had the issue

They make a very big difference. The first thing people look at when they see you is your eyes and the eyes are the window to your soul and i don't like the idea of having an old tired soul.

Your before/after pics look like night and day. Congrats on your great results!

Thanks! I'm definitely more confident and that before picture was after I got some I'll advised fillers that didn't work at all. It definitely helps with my confidence when not wearing glasses.

Looking fab! Congrats!
I think you look great for being one month post-op. You could try arnica gel to help the settled blood break down. Keep us posted on how you continue to heal!
I use it all the time to break down bruises- I think it works, but agree that a lot of doctors don't think it does anything (then again a lot of other doctors recommend it). Either way I hope your bruises fade soon!
