WORTH IT$500
Had progressive under eye bags, that were worsening through my late 20s into my 30s. They made me look older and tired, and just really started to effect my self confidence. Did a ton of research and opted to go with fillers over a lower blepharoplasty (I think blephs should be considered once you're older with more loose skin). Was terrified of ruining my face or ending up with something worse. Really happy with my decisions and the results.
I went on about 4 consultations before choosing to go with Andres Melos, a physicians assistant who works out of NYC Rejuvenation Clinic. He also now works at LIJ Vein and Cosmetic Center and does per diem work in LIJs ER. I chose him bc he was very realistic with the expectations I should have, had experience working specifically with fillers in the under eye area, seemed confident without being overly zealous or cocky, and never tried to hard sell make me choose rightthisverysecond or miss out on some deal.
I paid $500 for the fillers, which I feel is reasonable for a first time procedure, but not sure its realistic to spend that every time. Fillers in the tear trough last about a year, lasting much longer than the lip or lower face. With continued use your tissue can actually start making more collagen, which would naturally plump up that area, require less filler on subsequent applications, and actually hold onto it longer.
Pain with injection was totally tolerable. Took about 10 mins with each eye.
My under eyes swelled about 3-5 days after, noticeably but not freakishly (it felt much more swollen that it looked). I had bruising that lasted about 3 weeks, longer than average, but relatively easy to cover with makeup. On the tail end of the bruising my under eyes had a grayish brown hue and I was worried I had developed a weird hyperpigmentation that I had read about in some other reviews, but this was completely gone within a month.
It's been about 4 months since I had them and I'm really happy with the results. Such a good feeling to not obsess about my bags, pushing and pulling on my face every time I looked in the mirror. Even if I hadn't had this incredible of a result I'd still be happy that I elected to try the fillers first over the more permanent (and costlier) alternative of surgery.

UPDATED FROM SEJ
2 years post
More than 2 years out, still happy

Looooooong overdue for an update
I'm more than 2 years out from my undereye fillers. Still really really happy with the results and can't believe it's lasted so long.
I have two theories on why my results have lasted as long as they have. The first is that, from the research I've done, filler lasts MUCH longer in the under eye area compared to say the lips or nasolabial folds. I haven't had filler to the latter, so this is just based off asking around and researching the net.
Just be aware of that when trying to get a full syringe worth, especially if getting a touch up
The second, is one that only now am I realizing could have been a contributor; I had the copper IUD paraguard for about 4 years. It became dislodged and I had it removed almost 2 years ago, just after the time I got the under eye fillers. Symptoms that I thought were "just me" and part of aging - bags under my eyes, loosing large quantities of hair, occasional rashes, skin blotchiness and hyperpigmentation, fatigue - all went away over the first year. The copper IUD works by causing localized inflammation, so it's possible the inflammation caused these other generalized symptoms as well. Its hard to say for certain whether that contributed to my undereye bags, but the bags haven't come back over the 2 years.

You look great! What filler was used? I had a very bad experience with 2 different fillers. Boletero and Juviderm. My eyes are a mess now!

Thanks for the kind words :)
I had restalyne.
One of my best friends had lumpiness following a touch up using restalyne after originally getting juviderm. She elected to get the injection that reverses the filler after a few month of the lumps still being there.
I'm sorry you're not happy with your results :( Maybe see if your doc will offer you the hyaluronidase reversal? At least let them know and see what sort of solutions they have

Thanks for the update! You look great, even if the 'bags' were a symptom of the copper, the filler probably helped move things along. Do you have pics taken before the iud?

I'll have to look to see if I can find a good pic (my pics from back then were so grainy and I didn't have selfie smarts yet!). Will private message you any that I can find that show the contour

Just seeing your response, not sure why I missed it. I did have the filler dissolved and now I have a big indentation on one side which is why now it looks pretty bad. Afraid to try filler again and also to have surgery.

What made you get the filler dissolved? I have been going back and forth with filler and surgery...
