Electrolysis Saved my Face After Laser Made my Facial Hair Worse!

I'd always had a some dark hairs on my neck, and sideburns that grew a little too low, so I began shaving in my teens. Eventually, laser became affordable and I was so excited to give it a shot. HOWEVER! What they don't tell you is that laser can actually stimulate hair growth in those soft baby hairs that you shaved to target the dark hair!
After laser, the number of hairs on my neck seemingly exploded. I was so upset, convinced I'd have to shave for the rest of my life (waxing makes me breakout/plus doesn't stop the growth). Then I looked into electrolysis. I couldn't be happier that I did!
Electrolysis kills the follicle with heat (my girl uses thermolysis, not electrical current). I had a few sessions with a woman who was lovely, but used too high heat (yes it is always a little uncomfortable, but it doesn't have to be unbearable and cause damage to the skin). We never reached full "clearance" of the area because she was rather slow, and I was unable to continue seeing her. As you can see, 3 initial sessions without total clearance + 4 months without the required touch-ups turned into a situation!
The process of electrolysis is somewhat slow - I'm going x1/week at this point - but once you reach clearance of the area, it's so manageable. And eventually, you've successfully killed off the follicles and only need an appointment when some latent hair pops up! 5 more sessions with a new girl have been fantastic, as you can see.
I live in NYC, so the price per session is probably a little higher than other locations ($79/30 minutes), but it's worth it. And it isn't a big expense upfront like laser (which I clearly do NOT recommend for the face), so you don't feel it in your wallet the same way.
*also, my new girl is MUCH gentler even though you see some lingering redness in the photo. I have pretty sensitive skin.
Soo so happy I found electrolysis!

Still absolutely love electrolysis!

I've had a few people ask me for an update about whether or not the hairs on my neck grew back and the answer is no, not if they were actually killed off during the session.
A few will grow back if they weren't totally heated, or they were dormant and the technician didn't see them.
As you can see, only a couple of hairs weren't quite killed off, so they've regrown. But this is it! And I haven't been back since Jan or Feb of 2020.
I was going every other week for 30min to start, then every 2 weeks, then once a month, and then every 6 weeks for a 15min touch up, or for other areas like my upper lip (which is barely noticeable, but I'm at the med spa, so why not!).
Make sure you find a great technician and it is absolutely worth it, possibly even life changing.

Also I don't know if I have a hormonal imbalance, I've never had blood tests but I've never had any other issues. But I think electrolysis is a great choice for someone with PCOS
