So Happy I made this Decision!
$6,000
So my surgery was on Oct. 16th, I am 4 days post-op and I couldn't be happier. I see and feel the difference immediately and I can't stress enough how happy I am, I made the decision to go through with this. As far as recovery, I expected the worst, gory scars, lots of pain.........to my pleasant surprise it hasn't been that bad......my boobs don't look gory or scarred up (in fact they look pretty already :) ) and there of course there is swelling and some pain but I have been really good at staying ahead of the pain by taking my painkillers before it is unbearable. I can't speak for everyone and surgery is not for everyone but if you have been seriously considering a BR, do your research and go for you it........I did and so happy I did! I will write another update in a few weeks to let you know and see how it's going. Later Dolls xoxoxo

Congratulations! I didn't get approved in NYC and wound up going out-of-pocket upstate, but I'm very happy so far (2 days post-op). I had a lot more advance notice than you, since you were waiting on approval, but don't worry! It's going to be great!
You will get instructions from the surgeon but you will need to cut out any aspirin or blood thinners pretty much immediately. If you choose to get Hibiclens for pre-op showers, you may want to get it now and test it out to make sure you don't have an allergic reaction.

Thank you for the tip! And, I am glad you are happy with your results! I'm sorry you didn't get approved and had to pay out of pocket. Just curious, did they say why you weren't approved?
They said I hadn't demonstrated medical necessity. And to be fair, I hadn't. I didn't have shoulder grooving or rashes or anything like that. I maybe could have done PT for a while and gotten it approved but ultimately I was more impatient to get it done than anxious about the cost (and in my case it is primarily a quality of life issue, not a pain issue, and I wouldn't want to be accused of insurance fraud). :)
If you don’t mind me asking, how did you get it approved by the insurance company. I went for a consultation with Dr. Zweifler today and any tips would be appreciated! I am a 34DDD so I am kind of in the same situation as you. Thank you!

So I'm a little different from some of the brave...
So I'm a little different from some of the brave ladies on here, I didn't spend most of my life with huge boobies. Growing up, I loved my breasts....they weren't too big or too small, they were proportioned with my body size. So fast forward, like most people with age came weight gain and once I had my son, forget it! I went from nice B cups, (completely skipping C) to D and today I am at a, wait for it......38DDD! Once that happened, than came the constant neck and back pain....so after much consideration I decided to go for a reduction. I met with my doctor, we talked about options, and submitted for approval to my insurance. Now my doctor has already gave me my surgery date and scheduled my Pre-Op physcial but I haven't heard from my insurance yet so I don't know if it's a done deal or if I'm doctor is getting ahead of herself. Is that typical? Does this mean I am guaranteed approval from my insurance? Any insight from you ladies is greatly appreciated! Later Dolls! xoxoxo

Welcome to the community. I am keeping my fingers crossed that you hear from the isurance quickly with an approval. Let us know the minute you hear from them/
Thank you for the words of encouragement!
You are welcome:)
Who is insurance carrier, and how long did it take to get approval? I've already been giving a surgery date but still waiting for approval!
I have Aetna and it took about a week.......how long have you been waiting? And have done your pre-opp?
Ok cool....I also have Aetna...all my stuff was submitted to insurance today. I had went to a PS in Aug, I was waiting to see my Ob/gyn to get a letter and one from my chiropractor and also had a mammogram done. I saw a a new PS because I am wanting it done before years end because I have already met my deductible. I saw the second dr this past Monday...so now the ball is rolling! The give me a tentative surgery date of Nov 18th...so now waiting!
