I have been following different users on their BA...

I have been following different users on their BA experience for months, and I can't say enough about how much knowledge and comfort this online community has given me. This is my turn to contribute and express my gratitude.

Background:
I always had small breasts, which of courses is quite common for Asians. My paternal side of female relatives mostly have small breasts too. It never quite bothered me growing up - thank God for push-up bras - until college when I started to want to wear backless dresses, pretty bikinis, lingerie, etc. Moreover, my body is very pear-shaped. I wear between size 4-6 for pants but XS for tops. I'm not a perfectionist, but I appreciate beauty and believe in improving one's appearance within reason.
So here goes my motivation for BA - to wear pretty clothes and to achieve a balanced body form. Not for anyone else or the sex appeal.

Consultations:
I went through consultations with 11 different plastic surgeons in Manhattan. I know the number seems a little excessive, but hey this is a once in a life time deal and I wanted to be in the best hands. I have done pretty extensive research on most of the well regarded plastic surgeons in Manhattan to come up with the 11 to visit in person. It was a pretty significant time and $$ investment, but I am a big believer in due diligence.
My doctor of choice turned out to be the 11th - Dr. David Rapaport. The reasons? He's clearly brilliant (admission to medical program at 16, Chief Resident at Harvard and NYU, etc.), which is a must. Frankly he was not the most friendly of all the doctors I have seen. There are better salesmen out there in this business. But Dr. Rapaport was the most honest with me - he offered me all the information and allowed me to make decisions for myself. He didn't paint a pretty picture for me, but I was convinced that he was an ethical, trustworthy man. That to me was the most important of all, since I am selecting whose hands to put my life under, to certain extent.
The other most important factor for me is that he is a pioneer in the endoscopic underarm approach. I am Asian and scar easily. However, though I have voiced this concern to all the other doctors, only a few suggested me the underarm approach. It is indeed a much harder procedure than IMF, therefore not every doctor is confident enough to do it. But I do advise anyone who has scarring concerns to seriously look into the underarm approach to avoid irreversible scars under the breasts.
Before I end this post (for now... more to come), I really want to make it a point to anyone who happens to read this post to really think long and hard about the choice of your plastic surgeon. If you would like some honest opinions about certain doctors before you pay the consultation fee, feel free to private message me.

Be back soon with details on implant decisions, the procedure, and post-op recovery process.

Preparing for the big day

The surgery was scheduled a little over a month prior. The final decision on the implant was 300cc, textured silicone. I am pretty petite on top, so I didn't want to go too large. As for the decision on texture vs. smooth, textured implants have lower capsular contracture rate. The only downside is that it may be easier to "feel" the implant.. But honestly since my primary motivation is the look, not the sex appeal or the touch, I d rather go with the safer route!

Besides BA, I also decided to do lipo on inner and outer thighs to balance out my proportion from both ends. I wanted to do lipo on more areas, but Dr. Rapaport recommended me to try cool sculpture instead, since there isn't a significant amount of fat to take out. More to come on that in another post!

In preparation for the big day, the office gave us a whole list of instructions. Stop birth control, stop vitamins, no aspirin products, no alcohol 48 hrs prior, pick up 2 prescriptions (pain killer and anti-nausea medicine), basic bloodwork, prepare hibiclens, prepare Metamucil, etc..

Boyfriend and I both took 1 week off work. He was never so fond of the idea of me going through plastic surgery. He doesn't think I needed any of this, and it's hard for him to imagine me going under the knife for it.. I felt bad for putting him through the emotional stress. But it's my body at the end of the day, and I truly believe this is a decision that will bring a lot of satisfaction in the short and long term. My parents were against it too, but in the end everyone gave in.

A week before the surgery, the boyfriend made a whole spreadsheet schedule of when I need to/can't do what from about 2 weeks pre-op to weeks post-op to help us stay organized. It was really helpful to visually see a clear schedule, since the pre/post instruction lists were not structured in a timeline format. It took a lot of stress out of me to know he is there for me and that we are on top of this.

Details on the big day coming up next!

Some dream boobs pics I showed my doc

I love the full, round look of the upper pole! But the doctor said those are not natural... Much to my surprise! It's so funny what the media can make people believe to be natural nowadays. Before the surgery, I struggled pretty hard to decide between the natural look vs. fuller upper pole look. The doctor said it's something that can be adjusted post-op by massage techniques. So I still have time to think about it!

These boobs are from somewhere on RealSelf that I have gathered throughout the time I participated in this community. I think they are so beautiful! My nipples are pointing a little outwards so my after pictures won't show as much cleavage as these ladies'. But everyone can dream!
