How it works
- Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
- This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
- Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
- Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.

I went through puberty young, and have been looking into getting breast implants since i was 15-16 years old due to pretty severe asymmetry. I honestly have no idea what my bra size is, because each side of my chest looks like it belongs to a totally different human. I actually went through the entire BA process when I was 18, and ended up getting cold feet right before the operation, simply because I just wasn't mentally prepared to make such a huge decision at such a young age (and I had hoped that maybe I would continue to develop and they would eventually even out.......not the case). I've been kicking myself for backing out of the surgery ever since, especially since it was going to be fully covered by insurance at that time because my OBGYN put in a claim for "poland syndrome", and stated that the asymmetry could cause tremendous psychological stress throughout my development.
Fast forward 6 years later, and I'm finally going through with the operation on June 15th! Unfortunately insurance will not be covering this time around, but I'm confident that this procedure will be worth spending the money on. It sounds absurd, but thinking about the unevenness of my breasts literally keeps me up at night---- it is a major source of anxiety for me. I'm ready to finally wear bikinis without push up padding, I'm ready to wear bras that actually fit both sides of my chest, I'm ready to be able to take my shirt off with confidence. My confidence, love life, and relationships have suffered from the asymmetry, so I'm MORE than excited to get this procedure done!!!
I'll be getting my BA done in 3 days with Dr. Gerald Ginsberg with Lexington Plastic Surgeons in Manhattan. Dr. Ginsberg was incredibly patient, helpful and informative during our consultation. We decided to go with moderate profile, 300-330 cc saline implants (overfilled on the left side, underfilled on the right). I chose saline mainly due to financial reasons--- I graduated college about a year ago, and recently moved on my own, so the extra $4000 really makes a difference at this point in my life. I also liked the idea that the saline implants could be more "size-customized", as opposed to being limited to the specific size options that are offered for the silicone implants.
I never thought I'd be sharing my journey on the internet, but the posts on Real Self have been more than helpful for me in this process, so I hope I can do the same for anyone else who may be considering getting implants! I'll be back on Wednesday to let you know how the procedure goes!
