I'd like to bring you all along with me, on my journey to better skin. If you are as lost and insecure as I was, maybe this review will give you some insight that there is indeed hope.
I suffered from acne the vast majority of my life. I'm currently 30 years old and I can honestly remember waking up in the third grade to my first ever breakout. It didn't stop there... mild, typical, adolescent acne, eventually progressed to severe cystic acne and traveled on into my early adult years.
I did everything, every tropical treatment, laser, I was even convinced sun exposure helped dry it out, I picked, I covered it up... I was obsessed and always hid behind a mask. By 23, I switched dermatologists and after 6 months of trying to get this under control she said, "Do you want to try Accutane?" I responded, "I will try anything at this point." And so began my journey to clearer skin.
Accutane saved my life. It was about 6 months of antibiotics and I can honestly say I haven't had a breakout since. However, I was now left with these holes, in my face. A constant reminder that it'll never truly be gone.
And so begins my journey to smoother skin.
I again, tried EVERYTHING. Facials, exfoliators, fish oil, LASERS... I must have spent, $4000 on Fraxel alone with NO results. Excision.. I actually had a doctor cut my beautiful face open and stitch a scar back together. Insecurities will cause any person to act out of desperation... After the failed excision attempt, my research stumbled upon Silikon fillers and the longevity of the procedure. The over 90% success rate. The history of them, the reviews from its patients... I figured it was worth a shot (literally).
So now, I needed to find the right doctor, someone trusted in this practice, someone recommended... and thats when my research pointed me to Barnett Dermatology... a New York based office that is run by father and daughter.
Now, usually I don't write reviews.. but because of the emotional damage I have suffered, and self esteem that I have lost because of this horrible skin condition, I feel it is my obligation to take the time to recommend, and most importantly thank, Dr. Jay Barnett, because he, single handily saved my skin.
He's one of kind, that's something I should put out there. The man knows what he's talking about. After dealing with countless dermatologists and surgeons, all of which never displaying any sort of confidence in the outcome of the procedures I was interested in, Dr. Jay Barnett was straight forward. He is honest. Intelligent. Informative. New York was written all over him.. And as scared as I was, he didn't display any sign of fear. I needed to see that, it was an important part of the consultation.. He gave me hope.
It's been less than a week since I saw Dr. Barnett and all I've been doing is touching my cheeks. Comparing and contrasting pictures. I can't believe the difference. He is a miracle worker. An artist if you ask me, and a life saver. I honestly don't think I will ever see anyone else besides him for as long as I live. I feel like my life just started. The improvement is remarkable and he deserves every bit of praise and respect that any person can offer.
Please, if you're living with scars, take the advice Dr. Jay gave me, "the scars are not who you are." And now take my advice, if anyone can fix them, it's Him. There is not a single doubt in my mind. My only regret is that I wish I found him sooner.

Hi, thank you for the review. Can you tell me what Silikon injections are? Are the results permanent? Do you have any before and after photos to share?? Thanks.

Been to him and had that done also....it does help for the first month or so....then the scars reappear after all the swelling goes down. Sorry to burst your bubble.

I've read where you may need another round or two of injections to complete the treatment. Did the doctor tell you just one was needed? Complications arise from over filling again from what I've read. So multiple treatments make sense.

I was told I would need 2-3 treatments, but honestly I'm so impressed with the first round I can't believe the scars smoothed out the way they did. There's a few marks that need a little extra treatments than the rest, but I swear there's marks that have been on my face for years and you could never tell.
