I'm 50 and my age is showing primarily in lower face, neck and jawline. I'm in search of a great PS to do a facelift procedure. I'm afraid of having visible scars after surgery. I just read about this PS in Cali Colombia Dr. Alonso Riasco who does his procedure without leaving a scar around the ears. He does the incision on the tip of the head and scars are not visible. I'm wondering if anyone in here have heard of him or know anyone who has done a facelift with him. Or if you know any Dr. in the States who does this procedure.

Hi, Val, I had just the issues you describe, lower face, neck and jawline. I had a facelift with Dr. Arnold Breitbart just under three weeks ago and I couldn't be more pleased. I did have stitches around the ears but I couldn't even see them post surgery. Nearly 3 weeks out I could easily wear my hair up if I wanted to, I don't see any scarring, he was just very, very skilled. He has offices in Manhasset, Long Island and at Park Avenue and 70th in NYC. He's a very, very good surgeon, very professional and skilled. Low key, focuses on his craft. Good luck with your research, hope this helps!

Congratulations, so glad you're happy with the procedure. How much did it cost, I have gone to two PS and the quote were outrageous. tired of spending money on consultation fee and not able to afford 37k for the surgery sucks.

About $13.5k. If you just need a facelift, $37k is way high. I did it as an outpatient procedure. The price varies on where you have it done, there are a few options. I didn't pay a consultation fee. Just search Dr. Breitbart on this site and you'll see his reviews.

Was the 37k only for surgery or did it include the surgical center's fee, post op visits, etc.? I am surprised that you were charged a consult fee, it seems most PS do not charge for consults. I wish you luck in your search.

I would have to disagree. The majority of highly skilled, board certified, experienced, and reputable plastic surgeons do indeed charge a consult fee. The good ones are in high demand and their time is valuable. If they offered free consults to anyone who wanted one, they wouldn't have sufficient time to devote to actual patients.

Thank you for starting your story on RealSelf! Staying close to home is always preferable so you have access to follow up care if anything should arise. here's what some doctors say about invisible incisions. Please keep us posted on what you decide to do!

Hi Val, please be really careful not to fall for procedures that advertise no scars, effortless recoveries, etc. Techniques that advertise little downtime, minimal incisions/scars, etc. often equate to minimal results, and all too often, poor results. A well-performed "full" facelift by a highly qualified surgeon, should look natural while turning back the clock and addressing the aging issues of concern, while making scars nearly imperceptible. Surgery leaves scars; that's unavoidable. But a skilled surgeon knows how to place and make incisions that should be difficult for even your hairdresser to detect. My advice is to devote your time and energy to researching various surgeons' experience, qualifications, and consistently impressive results and not to worry about visible scars. I would also caution you about going out of the country to have this done. It is major surgery with a major recovery, and it is much safer and wiser to be where you can have easy access to your surgeon for follow-up (even months out) and if any complications develop. Best of luck. :-)

Thank you Renovation Project for your advice. I was just doing my research and came across this particular Plastic Surgeon who cuts on temple of the head and makes you look natural and I was wondering if anyone in the states did this. I would never consider going to another country for my face. I had a breast lift with implants done in the states and was truly disappointed with the results. what hurts is that I'm still paying for them and they look worst than before I had the surgery. I will be traveling to Colombia for a breast revision and lipo when the time comes, but for not the face is first and I'm staying home for that.

Don't forget to take some photos from when you were at your best. I took photos with me from as far back as high school (when dinosaurs roamed the earth) just to show that I indeed did have a neck and jaw line at one time. I felt it helped to have the PS see the structure of my young face when we discussed the procedures. Ask all the questions you need, discuss your expections and make sure that special connection between you and surgeon is there. Good luck

How did the consultations go?

UPDATED FROM Val210

Finally doing it.

Val210
I just had a consultation with DR. Mathew Bridges in Virginia. After reading horselady's profile and seeing how the Dr's stitching were nearly invisible I decided it was worth the distance and at least have a consul. Dr. Bridges was very warm and caring, he answered all my questions and told me that he prefers to do the plane FL, because it gives much better results by lifting the muscles. I came back confident that if I can pull the budget to do this he would be the Surgeon for my face. I live in NYC, and I have seen numerous surgeons and as of yet haven't seen any meticulous stitching.

Good luck! Good that you surgeon will tight the muscles, it is so important! Skin only lifts does not give natural look and does not last - skin will drop soon after the surgery without tightening the muscles.I am 51, hate my neck and will be doing the same thing
