I consulted with two other surgeons before...

I consulted with two other surgeons before choosing Dr. Rosenberg for my complicated reconstructive surgery. At the age of 15, I had a rhinoplasty and was given what is now known as "the Scher nose," a cookie-cutter, one-nose-fits-all, cute little turned up nose. Not knowing the difference at age 15, I enjoyed my new nose until about age 24 when people began to ask: "what happened to your nose?" Over the decades, my nose continued to collapse, leaving me with a Michael Jackson nose and an intense feeling of shame. I wished I could magically have back my old nose back--as the original family decision was made in the throes of my adolescent misery about perceived flaws and ugliness.

Even Dr. Rosenberg wasn't sure how much the nose could actually be improved as this was the first revision he'd be undertaking on a 1960's botched nose job. I guess not too many men or women come in asking for revisions a half century later. Through the years, I had concluded that I was forced to live with this mistake. But a nose is not an easy thing to hide! Nevertheless, I ruled out new surgery because I was fearful. As I grew into a woman whose self-worth didn't depend on the size or shape or her nose, I was now stuck with a Michael Jackson nose. And it did matter! All very ironic. So after much soul searching, I decided that a adult making a decision about her appearance was very different than a child passing judgment on her looks. And I decided to take the risk because I was so unhappy and I had found Dr. Rosenberg whose aesthetic sensibility and skills I fully trusted.

The surgery was successful and had immediate positive psychological benefits. Although for years I had magically yearned for my old nose back, even I have to admit, that this new nose is better than the original. So I now I look like I feel inside.

Thank you Dr. Rosenberg for my good looks (wink) and my psychological health.
