I wanted to get rid of the broken blood vessels...

I wanted to get rid of the broken blood vessels (telangiectasia) and overall redness on my cheeks and chin. It was suggested by the esthetician that I have a YAG laser to individually remove the telangiectasia, an IPL to brighten up the sun spots, and a Hydrafacial to clean and plump up my skin. I was so nervous about the lasers and after seeing so many negative reviews about the YAG laser I almost backed out. The day of my "custom facial" I tried to coax my esthetician into only removing 1 or 2 telangiectasia just to test out how my skin would react, she assured me that it would be fine and I went along with zapping them all. The YAG feels like a quick pin prick, but not painful, and as she zapped each blood vessel she used ice to soothe my face - the ice felt amazing. The IPL on the other hand was jarring - it didn't hurt but the flash of light you see (even through the protective eyewear) was bright red and freaked me out. You feel heat with the IPL and a there is a faint burning smell. I was told that the IPL will darken any sunspots for a few days then they will disappear. My sunspots look like small "coffee ground" flecks on my face right now. The Hydrafacial was a lubricating vacuum machine that sucked out any impurities for my pores, this procedure was done before and after the lasers. I also sat under red and blue LED lights for 20 minutes to further reduce redness/inflammation and kill bacteria. After the facial my face felt hot for the rest of the day, like a medium grade sunburn. I applied an ice pack to my checks and chin and just relaxed on the couch. The next morning my skin is still pink from the lasers but I have no more broken blood vessels - I'm very happy 24 hrs later....The price for my "custom facial" was $350, but with tip, tax and the purchase of a very expensive serum that I had to have my total ended up being $650.
I intend to go back next month and have my décolletage done and treat any remaining sun damage on my face.
