Hi! This is my first review here (and also my first cosmetic surgery/enhancement) I didn't think I was going to make a review, but considering how much this site and all the reviews and 'before and after' pics helped me in doing research and make a decision on which surgeon to choose, I feel like I owe it to the community to return the favor. :)
BACKGROUND INFO
I am 27 years old and I have always been very naturally skinny (I weigh about 48 kg / 105 lbs and I am 167 cm / 5'6" tall, BMI: 17.2) - except for my cheeks/jawline/chin where I have always had stubborn fat that won't go away even if I lose weight. And I also don't want to lose any weight on my body. People have always said it's just "baby fat", but I am in my late 20's now, so yeah...
CONSULTATION
I had my chin/neck/jawline liposuction consultation in January, I did tons of research before and finally decided on Dr Sterry. During the consultation Dr Sterry was at first skeptical and unsure if he wanted to treat me, since I am a skinny girl and because he thought I was much younger (he guessed I was 18-19, which is what most people guess to be honest) and told me it was probably just baby fat. After I had told him I was actually 27 and he had squeezed under my chin for a while, he agreed with me that there was some fat that could be removed.
I got a really great vibe and feeling about Dr Sterry immediately, he was very kind, funny and professional, and everyone on his staff is lovely too, so I booked a time for the liposuction after the consultation which would take place a couple weeks later.
THE SURGERY
The weeks before the surgery I had contact with the staff a couple of times. They sent me emails with information and prescriptions for painkillers and xanax (to calm my nerves) for the liposuction. I decided NOT to take any xanax before the lipo, as I felt I probably didn't need it and also because I was required to have someone escort me home afterwards if I did, which I didn't want to have.
The whole procedure took about 20 minutes in total, which they said was probably a record time. It didn't hurt and I was definitely fine without the xanax. It was a weird feeling though, but Dr Sterry and his staff talked me through everything in a calming and reassuring way. Afterwards I got wrapped up and took a cab home.
HEALING PROCESS
I was required to wear my head wrap all day and night for 5 days, if I remember correctly, after that I only had to wear it at night or whenever I could.
The first few days I was pretty swollen but had no bruises. After about 4 days the swelling was starting to go down, but instead I started getting bruises, big blueish yellow green bruises all over my neck and chest. They persisted for a couple of days and then started gradually disappearing. I covered them up quite easy with make up so it wasn't a big deal.
After a couple of weeks I started getting very lumpy. I had lumps and almost like "bands" under my chin and on my neck. My whole jawline and neck looked very uneven and lumpy. This was harder to hide and I was getting quite worried for a while and called the staff at Dr Sterry's office and asked them about it. They told me it was normal and that I shouldn't start panicking. I would say the lumpiness reached it's peak at about 4 weeks and then gradually started to go away. I started applying heat packs and massaging my neck to speed up this process, at first I did it once a day for 5-10 minutes, and after a while just a couple times per week. The lumpiness and bands probably took about 3 months to go away fully.
I experienced a lot of numbness for the first month or two and I would say it took at least 3 months for ALL the numbness to go away. All of it did, though. Same goes for the little "scars" from the insertion holes under the chin and behind the ears, they also healed and went away completely, but it took about 2-3 months in total.
I can't think of anything else to say about the healing process. All in all it felt pretty quick, painless and easy to hide.
END RESULTS
I am sooo happy with my end results! It turned out exactly like I had hoped. No one that I know seems to have noticed that I've had anything done. No one's asked about it or looked at me in a weird way. I truly don't think anyone can see it in real life, but TO ME it's a huge difference and I feel way more comfortable when people take pictures of me, etc. I also think you can definitely see the difference when you have the before and after pics in front of you. :) I would definitely recommend Dr Sterry, him and his staff were amazing all the way through.
