I've got a very curvy lower half and broad shoulders, so I've always been a bit insecure about the size of my breasts. Though they have a nice shape and cleavage, they just weren't the right size. I needed to balance out my body... and after years of going back and forth, I finally decided to balance out my body as a birthday present for myself!

Welcome to the community and thanks so much for offering your opinion of your doctor.

It would be great if you could give us a little more detail about your experience, like why you had the surgery, your tips for getting good results, pros/cons, and info on the recovery process.

As a community manager, I get requests all the time from other members who want me to to keep encouraging people to share their experiences, which are so helpful for others considering these procedures. So please accept this as a well-intentioned request from thousands.

Surgery Day! "Morning Emergencies," Scheduling Errors, and Boobs! - 11/20/15

curiouscat8
Once I made up my mind about getting the implants, I dove headfirst into researching possible surgeons. I met with 3 top surgeons and ended up back at Dr. Khuthaila's for a second consult... I booked my surgery that day :) for an appointment 5 weeks out.

Flash forward to the day of the surgery, and I am nervous, but excited. I show up at 6:50am with my sister, about 5 minutes late, but ready to get this done! I had all my forms pre-filled, so it was a bit of waiting, then they got me in a gown and hooked up to an IV by 7:15am. The anesthesiologist, Dr. Henry, immediately introduced himself to me and made me feel very comfortable because I am scared of needles and have never been put under before. Then it was just a matter of waiting for Dr. Khuthaila to come and mark me up! Except I was waiting... and waiting... the nurses were whispering around me and everyone kept saying how she's normally always on time, so she should be here shortly.

At some point, Patricia (a nurse who was incredibly helpful during this situation) came over to tell me Dr. Khuthaila had an emergency and no one has been able to get in contact with her. Naturally, I was worried that something had happened to her, but Patricia told me to hang tight as they try to get an answer for me. Then I overheard someone asking "well, is someone going to tell the patient? She's been here all morning..."

Minutes later, Patricia came over to tell that Dr. Khuthaila was on her way, but the earliest she would be able to get in is around 10am. Then the other shoe dropped, since it was right before a holiday week, the operating rooms were booked full and she didn't know what that meant for my surgery even when my surgeon were to finally get in. Rescheduling was floated as an option, but I had been laying naked in a gown, hooked up to an IV for nearly 2 hours... I was NOT going to not have my surgery today.

Also, this whole time I am trying to convince myself to just relax and explode because there is no sense in getting angry with staff - it's not their fault that this is happening to me.

Eventually my surgeon arrived, apologized over "the scheduling error", asked how I was doing, apologized again for the wait... then asked if I knew when exactly my surgery time was confirmed. I was so tired of waiting around and tired in general from waking up so early to get there at 6:45am, so I couldn't even think of a proper response! I had no idea! All I was thinking was "let's get these boobs in!" From there it was more waiting... thankfully she was able to swap out a spot on the schedule with another surgeon, so we were next in line for an operating room.

Later on, when I got home, I looked into exactly when my surgery time was confirmed for the first time... and it was when I made my first payment on October 14! Also, I got calls from her assistant, Alexandra, as well as the coordinators from the Center for Specialty Care, throughout the week to confirm my arrival time of 6:45am. I'm not sure where the mix up occurred, but due to some human error, I was forced to lay around until 11:30am for my surgery - 4 hours later than I was scheduled!

I feel asleep almost immediately after I received anesthesia and was rolled into the operating room (being extremely tired helped). When I woke up, I apparently had been in recovery for an hour. Dr. Khuthaila was already gone, but the nurses had her on the phone because she wanted to talk to me. She told me the surgery went great, and that my muscles were tight, but that was something we already expected since I work out 5-6 times a week. I confirmed that I received Mentor silicone implants, 325 cc in my left breast with a lowered crease and 300 cc in my right breast.

From there, I had several ginger ales, some crackers, a bun that I brought with me, and then I was on my way home!

Wish boobs

I don't like the "fake [RS bleep] star" look and wanted something natural to balance out my body... these are the wish boobs I showed my doctor.
