I wish I could use more characters!! I am having a panniculectomy of the bottom flap of skin/fat, a abdominalplasty for the upper layer of fat/skin with reconstruction, liposuction around my waistline and the reposition of my navel. I am hoping to have no excess skin and contour. (Insurance covers panini but not a tummy tuck so saved some money there)
Once this procedure is complete, I will have a waiting period due to blood loss before we can tackle other areas. I plan to pursue a boob reduction and lift because my frame is small but currently you can't tell because of all this excess skin. I lost over 135lbs in a year. Cardio cardio cardio is the key and don't eat carbs as much as possible. I gave up soft drinks completely which was my weakness so just get motivated and you can do it too. If all goes well with this procedures, I would like excess skin removal on my thighs, lipo possibly on my back and a butt lift IF squats while in my waiting period doesn't take care of those areas. Lots to look forward too but I deserve it! :)

Congratulations. Praying all goes well! I am currently waiting to hear back to see if insurance will pay for mines. I have hip dysplasia and have to get the excessive amounts of skin removed so I can a hip replacement.

I had some medical reasons as well to have the skin removed. I wish you luck! :)
February 16, 2017
What were your "reasons" for the skin removal. I am about the begin the process for a panniculectomy, but I am afraid that I will be denied by insurance if I don't fit the criteria.

I had a heart condition so it put stress on my heart, I had a lapendectomy of my spine so it pulled on my spine BUT I was told if you have persistent rashes documented for more then 4 months with a doctor it will go through
February 17, 2017
Wow, glad you were able to get the surgery. Thanks!!
April 14, 2017
May I ask what kind of insurance you gave?
April 14, 2017
I paid cash for most of the procedure. Only the panni was covered by insurance, the rest cost out of pocket. Humana

May I ask what insurance you have? I had insurance cover my panniculectomy. I thought I would have to sacrifice my belly button because that is typically something that insurance does not cover but I got my belly button move to a new position and insurance covered it.

Day of treatment

Today is the day!!

I'm at the hospital and they weighed me this morning at 81.2kg which I don't know what that converts to in pounds BUT I still feel huge anyway. I'm excited to have the procedure and nervous at the same time. Even though the pounds fell off on the scale, it's hard for me to see any results under the skin hanging all over the place. I figure I will do the panni and be able to see where I need to target more after this and decided on a tummy tuck later IF needed. My doctor seems to think I will be happy when this is done and so far he has been correct in everything else I wouldn't be happy with so I'm eager to see the results!!
Pics below show me with clothes and without so I can reference later the effects. My first post has the upper half uncovered but since that's not my goal with this procedure, I'm concentrating on my lower and mid section.

Wow you are very tough. I had a tummy tuck 16 days ago. First couple weeks we're tough but so nice to have rolls gone. I had 4 kids, a set of twins in there & a 10 pound one baby at 39. Took 6 pounds off my stomach & extensive muscle repair. So nice for you to get rid of excess skin.

I have one son who is now almost 17. I had a tubal when is 5 and a few hernias repaired. From carrying him I had a large crease in my stomach area that ran up and down. The doctor wasn't sure how much would flatten on it but it looks amazing. Right now it's very hard for me to see myself as being flat because of all the swelling. I assume most of my ab area will look smoother later because I did abdominalplasty repair at the same time. It probably the sorest part of my body right now. The stitches just itch or burn if I move
February 16, 2017
Best wishes, & speedy healing. The first couple of weeks are the hardest. I'm 16 days today, stitches haven't really bothered me I had 3 c-section so I'm used to that. Was muscle repair that occasionally bothers me. Take one day at a time. It's worth it

I'm wondering about the fluids. It's day 4 and I'm still losing blood. It's dark red. How long does it usually take for the drainage to turn pink, orange, yellow and clear? Did you gain weight going home? I gained almost 7lbs which I'm guessing is from fluid and swelling. Since they took off close to 12lbs that means it's like a 20lbs gain!! Scared of that!

My PS won't leave drains in longer than 14 days. My started bright red with blood clots. One switched to light pale color like Kool-Aid PS said it's protein. The other one got dark & darker then almost a yellow near the end. I haven't weighed myself. I was 214 going in & have been living in loose jogging pants, no underwear till drains we're pulled. They only took 6 pounds of skin off of me but I got really sick day of operation, didn't eat much for 3 or 4 days. Eating now good but very small portions as I feel full quick. I'd wouldn't worry till your swelling goes down & you will lose a lot of fluids

They say to not much blood when a little bit of blood mixes with protein, it's red but not much pure blood.

Sorry went twice
February 18, 2017
dark red blood means old blood so it is good that the body is passing it! You need to give it several months for the swelling to really go down. Thanks for your review. You are very brave to do what you do.
February 18, 2017
I appreciate your response. The doctor said the dark color will lighten up to pink and I seen him on Tuesday so I'm sure it should lighten by then. Im curious what all I'm losing though in the mix because now is blood but what is in it to turn pink? Water?? Then it will then orange, yellow and finally clear. Orange and yellow sounds like fat breakdown but I don't know for sure.

Day of Surgery - Update and Pics #2

LifeChanger123
I am writing this the morning after my surgery took place but the pics are from the day of surgery. Everything went smoothly and the doctor is amazing! I highly recommend Dr. Dupin because he cares about your health not just the way you look. He wants to ensure your procedure(s) are effective but safe. ????
I was unable to take my camera or cell with me in the OR so I don't have many pics to share and none of the skin removed. But I a resident doctor was able to send me pics of the drawing on me and a nurse sent me pics of the finished process before they bandaged me all up.
My mother was in the waiting area and was told that about 12lbs of skin and fat was removed. The cut is long across me and kinda looks like a fat roll in the pics but it's not. It's just swollen on that area. I am extremely pleased with the way it looks already so I can only imagine when the swelling goes down and fluids finish draining.
As for pain, I am very comfortable today. They won't allow me to get out of bed to even use the bathroom so I have a Cather in me which I hate but can live with. I also have a pain pump installed so it's been administering what I need, as needed. I was able to eat and drink immediately after surgery bc I was starving after not eating all day. They wanted clear liquids at first in case I threw up from all the drugs used to knock me out. But by the end of the night I ate chicken.
My blood pressure is always low because I have POTS syndrome and it's been acting up some severely since the procedure. If I sit up straight or stand up, my blood pressure drops to 53/32 or close to that area immediately. I am thinking it's because of the blood loss for now but will see the doctor in the am to ask questions. As long as I lay down flat, I'm fine.
They have been giving me some meds to help me sleep but I'm not in pain. I am sore but I don't consider that pain. Nothing you can't deal with. I've seen post where people say they feel like knives are stabbing them but for me at least it's nothing at all like that and makes me wonder if they just need attention or want people to cater to them after surgery. Truth is you will feel it of course but just do what they advise and you won't have all that pain.
Tomorrow (today technically) I am having the caterer removed and learning to enough my fluid bags along with injecting myself with some form of meds in the stomach I think. Not very clear on that so will have to update later. If they can get the fainting and blood pressure stable when I sit and stand then I will be discharged today.

Thank you for that I have was really wondering about the pain but you make it worth doing thankyou
February 16, 2017
I have seen so many people complain about the pain being excessive. I actually cooked a roast and rice today in a crock pot. It's not comfortable of course, you will be sore but no way it's as bad as people made it out to be on other post I've read. I cleaned my kitchen tonight with the exception of mopping and it's day 3. I will have my son mop because the twisting motion is bad for healing.
