Hey!
Soooo happy to find this site! I've had implants for 18 years.
I had the first put in when my 2nd child was 8 months old. I was always very thin and flat chested so after breastfeeding...I was thin, flat chested and had saggy boobs. I was only 25 so I was very self conscious! I had problems with the first set in 1995...I had terrible rippling. So in 2002, I had them removed and went with a larger size thinking that would not cause rippling. I didn't ripple but suffered with terrible back pains so in 2006 I went smaller. So now here we are 2013 and I am miserable! I have terrible cc in my right side with some possible crystallized tumors. Not exactly sure what they are called but they are tearing up my tissue. I will have them removed next Wed. I am scared but after reading so many stories, I'm ok with it!

I'm choosing to not replace with implants...go figure why! lol
I'm waiting at least 6 months before deciding on a lift.

Any suggestions on what to wear after surgery?
I have tons of 34D bras but what do you do after surgery?
I'll end up being a flat A or AA I'm sure. yikes!
My dr. did say that I've gained weight since I started with implants so he thinks that I do have some of my own tissue now, we'll see.

I'd like any advice on once I get home, do you keep bandages on?
Do you need a bra? I'm nervous...I keep forgetting to ask these questions!

Thanks for the help and if I get brave..I'll post pictures! :-)

Normal to be nervous! I was too. I am 9 weeks post-op. After surgery I was in a tight sports bra for 6 weeks. Minimal activity so you can heal. Surgery was great, only on pain meds for 24 hours. Just don't overdo it! I ended up with a seroma (fluid buildup) in right breast and had to have drained twice. My ps said I started using my upper body too soon. Other than that things have been great and I am so happy with my results. Best of luck to you, keep me posted!

Thanks so much for your reply! I was wondering about the sports bra and if it would flatten me even more than I think I'll be lol. So you are ok with natural breasts? I'm afraid that I will not have any tissue left. Great advice to wait before over doing it. I'm rarely sitting still! I wonder so many things. Will I fit in my shirts? Fit in a cute bra? Will people notice a huge difference and if so will they be bold enough to ask? Sigh lol

The sports bra hasn't really flattened me...obviously is does while wearing but they fluff out after taking it off! I love the natural breasts I was an A pre-explant 21 years ago. After the implants my breasts are more separated (which I love) and therefore I can fill out a B cup very nicely. I had synmastia (kinda forming a uniboob) so removing my implants got rid of that thank goodness! Your shirts will fit better! You can probably go downa size LOL!! Just bought my first "real" bra and love love it! No one has asked me about anything however I used to wear really baggy stuff since I was so self conscious about them! It's such a graet feeling being able to hug people now without that beach ball in the way feeling! I'll be thinking of you and please let me know if I can answer anything else! I know it's scary but you will be so glad you did it!

I've been hearing about fluffing. I want to fluff!!! Haha. Sounds like it worked out great for you! And you are bigger naturally than originally. That's what in hoping for. I was a saggy A. Was 25 and just finished breast feeding. Now at 43. I'd love to be a B! Your awesome. Ok I will have more questions I'm sure. Lol

Hey SB504, I look forward to finding out how it goes on Wed. Are you having the surgery done under local? I would do a quick check with your doctor on whether they will be giving you a support bra at surgery or whether they will just be wrapping you up. Will you have drains? That will also matter as far as what you will initially wear. I'm sure they will give you all the aftercare paperwork on what you should or should not do post op. I'm having my surgery Nov 5th and go for my pre-op this week....so I will be asking a lot of these questions myself on Wed. I wish you all the best. Keep us posted on how it all goes.

Hi Fixit225! Thanks for writing! I am going under general anesthesia. I will be wrapped up with drains. I'm curious when I will be able to wear a bra. Why am I so obsessed with the bra thing? Lol. I'm more obsessed with wondering if ill have anything to put in it haha. Let me know how it goes at the preop. My surgery is Wed so I will update. I'll add pics too. I'm nervous! :-)

The drains are a pain but enjoy no bra for awhile lol! Glad your surgery went well! You will see changes weekly!!
October 23, 2013
Drains come out tomorrow! Yay! I haven't seen any fluffing in the concave part. I hope I have changes soon :-). Pain is still unbearable!

Have you peeked yet? I've had mine for 23 years and am wondering how they will look afterward.
October 23, 2013
I wrote a comment above but yes they aren't bad after having implants for 18 years. Better than expected! Flat up top and perky near the incision. I think I'm a B cup.
October 23, 2013
Ok wow! I've had a rough time! Tomorrow will be one week and I'm still in so much pain. I get the drains out tomorrow and I can't wait! My chest hurts so badly and I'm still having a hard time moving around. I want to lie in my side so bad lol. Now to how I look. Haha. I'm not as flat as I thought I'd be considering I was flat to begin with. I am saggy and concave up top. Most of the breast tissue is at the bottom near my incision. I'd guess that I'm a small B. I can't even try a bra in at this point. I have sorta a perky look from the side but definitely saggy. I have no breast tissue or fluffing up top and that's where I was too large with the implants. So other than the pain, I'm liking the smaller breasts. One I get a push up bra, I think they'll look great! My shirts are so baggy now. :-)

Did you have a capsulectomy?
October 23, 2013
Yes I did. That probably added to the pain.
October 23, 2013
Haha. Yes! I want to fast forward to bra shopping :-)

Hey! It's been 13 days since I've updated. I did develop an infection in my left breast which is now much better and my chest is still very sore. I had my implants removed 3 weeks ago tomorrow. I'm still getting used to how clothes fit but I am sooooo happy to have them out! I'm a B now and although I still cannot find a bra that I really like.....I'm very pleased with the outcome of my breasts. My fear was that I would have no tissue being that I didn't have any to begin with but that's not the case. I am a perky small B. I'm ok with that. :-) Explanting was the best thing that I could do for me. :-)
November 5, 2013
So glad you are over infection. I went off my RA biologic drugs to help my chance of not getting an infection. That would be scary. But behind you now...yay!
November 5, 2013
My infection started from the drainage tube actually. I kept telling him it hurt and he said hang in there it won't be long. Well it was 9 days that the tubes were in so by the time they took off the tape. The infection was pretty bad. My right breast, it had the worst scar tissue and crystallization, is still totally sore and my skin is very sensitive to touch. He said that's normal and will gradually get better. I feel better in my own skin now. I don't feel like I'm all boobs but all of my shirts hang. lol Need new clothes! :-)
November 5, 2013
That's interesting. Maybe that is why they took mine out after 2 1/2 days. They were being very careful about suppressed immune system. I remained on my prednisone but stopped actemra. That had to be upsetting when you saw the infection but thankfully you were able to recover.
November 5, 2013
I was supposed to get mine out on day 7 but I was still bleeding. He said that he was afraid if he removed them on day 7 that I was have more problems internally so he waited 2 more days which helped. The bleeding did stop by day 9 however. It hurt soooooo badly removing those tubes. OMG! I was not prepared for the pain. I guess I was starting to heal a little around the tubes. NOT fun! lol
