Update: One Month Post Dysport Treatment
It took a couple of weeks for the full effect to show...and here's some pics of a month after treatment.
I was very unsure about 'injectables'...thought...
I was very unsure about 'injectables'...thought about it for over a year consciously. I was blessed with very fair skin, and generally never wore sunscreen in my youth...up to my late 30s in fact. (gasp) As a rider, my hours on horseback and the smiles and laughs I've shared over the years were making me look (in my opinion) much older than "I should" (for whatever that means!) The signs of aging I expected, but I'd prefer to control it a bit at least!
I met with 3 doctors, 2 doctors in the New Orleans area, 1 in LA and settled on Dr. Parker Velargo.
Dr. Velargo was exceptional and informative. He spent at least an hour with me during the consultation and in no way did I feel rushed. He asked great questions that helped me clearly explain what I was looking for and provided me with photos of his work that matched the discussion we were having. He also explained the process for the various options and the results that I could expect.
I left the consult having booked the appointment and feeling very confident that what I was hoping to achieve could be realistic accomplished. I clearly understood the costs, the process and my options.
In the end I chose Dysport to reduce the lines and wrinkles around my eyes, mouth and on my forehead. (I would not describe my lines as fine at all!) Dr. Velargo helped me understand that the lines around my mouth were not really going to benefit from this treatment. (I've never smoked, but these lines were something both my Mother and Grandmother had, plus they were pretty wrinkle-y beauties, so I'm thinking they are hereditary...oh well!)
By now you've probably read enough reviews to know:
- the procedure is painless and quick
- Dysport and Botox are (somewhat) interchangeable
- results vary in quality and length
The main purpose of this review is:
- to recommend Dr. Velargo - he is awesome, his knowledge is current, his bedside manner excellent and most importantly - he honestly advised me what I could expect and executed the process perfectly
- to share pictures for the 3 month period following my first experience with anything done to my face - so you can see how long lasts and the results achieved
Note: 2 weeks after the procedure I had a follow-up appointment and a couple minor tweaks were made (at no cost) - at this appointment we spent about 15-20 minutes discussing my results to see if I was happy with what was achieved and then decided on a couple of tweaks.
In summary, I will be going back. I don't feel like this is a slippery slope but rather a "me" thing and I'm very pleased to be able to afford this and have a great Dr. to complete it for me...
