It has been one week since my procedure. Everyday...

It has been one week since my procedure. Everyday there is improvement! There is still some tenderness in areas of my face, from under my jaw all the way to the top of my scalp (due to nerves that travel from the forehead to the scalp) and still spots of numbness near my jaw but I'm happy to say that the swelling in my jaw and lower cheeks has gone down considerably and I am just about back to normal. I am feeling a tightness all over my face. Eyes more open, cheekbones more defined. And I have been told I look really good. I am happy with what I see when I look in the mirror but again it is a little too early to know if this is swelling or the procedure working. So, although I am happy with the results so far, I will wait a little longer before I make my final decision as to whether this was worth it.

First let me say I did not pay to have this done...

First let me say I did not pay to have this done but the cost for a full face at this office is what I stated. A very trusted friend has been training to do this procedure. She needed a second person to train on and thought I would be interested. I was thrilled to get the call since I could not afford to get this done but always wanted to do it. I have have moderate laxity which makes me a perfect canditate for good results. The Training Rep from Ulthera was in the room and overseeing everything from the mapping of my face, to the completion of the procedure. I felt I was in very good hands. I took 1 oxycodone and 800 mg of advil one hour before since I heard it was painful. And even with the drugs it still was painful but nothing you can't handle. All for a good cause, right? The night following the procedure I felt numbness and swelling in the lower part of my cheeks, along/under the jaw, under my chin and the neck. Also, the left side of my mouth feels the way you do when you've gone to the dentist and get novacaine making it hard when I eat and drink to keep from drooling. When I woke up this morning there was no improvement. Yes it sounds bad but I have made calls, sent in pics to the Dr and was told their office had two other patients that had this and it will resolve itself. Hopefully sooner rather than later! Now if I paid for this I might be freaking out right now but maybe not. However, I do not believe that there was any wrong doing here, I just believe every face and every case is different. I think a nerve may have been hit or just affected by the swelling and needs time to recover.I do have a small face which the rep kept commenting about so I wonder if that makes it more difficult to navigate. I do not have any burns, redness or welts, just swelling and numbness. I will keep you updated as the days go on, BTW- some areas of my face were sensitive to the touch after the prodecure. That was gone by the end of the day. I will not yet say whether I am happy or regret having this done. Time will tell. Updated on 2 Aug 2012: So this is my second day following my Ulthera. I still have swelling in the jowel, lower cheek area and under my chin, however I am happy to say I am having some tingling and itchy sensations which I attribute to healing because some of the numbness is going away, yay! Still having issues with my mouth but its only been a couple of days and I just think in my case this is an area that will take time. At this point I'm not very worried. I am watching for tightening of the skin in the areas that are not swollen and I'm happy to say I'm noticing it in the upper part of my face (eye, forehead, cheekbone area). I see my nasal folds are definitely not as deep but until the swelling goes down completely I will not know for sure. I was told you can see some results right away bust mostly it will just keep improving and I'll see the best results in 3-6 months time as my collegen production kicks in. I have two friends that had this done and were thrilled with their results so I remain very positive and look forward to watching the changes everyday.
