5 year update

It s been a long while since I posted anything on RS. But sometimes still get asked if my skin got any better. So here is an update. It s been 5 years since the microneedling session. I am now almost 54 and of course my skin has aged. This review is about the skin texture damage microneedling caused. Not about the other things my skin is showing due to further aging, re hyperpigmentation spots, sagging skin and additional wrinkles.
Pictures are taken in different light and last 2 from a short distance. I don't do botox, I don't have fillers or any other sort of whatever is out there.

My skin texture has improved tremendously. The deep tracks are now superficial, the glow on my skin is back, no more dehydration or discoloration on the cheeks. I am very happy with the improvements. There are a few scarring but barely noticeable on my fair skin and hard to capture on camera. The wrinkles on my cheeks have improved as well cause of the tracks being less deep but when I smile, my cheeks and crowfeet are absolutely there but I have accepted this and find it cute.
3 phones later, this camera is way better then the original fotos, and taking close up pictures, my skin looks worse then how I see myself in the mirror.
So my conclusion is, yes skin texture can recover but you need realistic expectations. Mine is not, nor never will, as smooth as before. Perhaps with deep chemical peels or with lasers ? but I m not going down that route.
All skin has texture and mine, to me, now looks like average 54 year old skin, and I am perfectly okay with that.
Throughout the years I have been in contact with various ladies and unfortunately not everybody is healing as well as I am. So I m guessing there are a lot of factors involved, wish I knew which ones so I could advise but I can only speak for myself, what I have done and what effect this had on my skin.
I had ( my whole family has great skin) thick, smooth, almost wrinklefree, porcelain skin before microneedling. No acne( as was suggested in comments) simply no skin issues whatsoever. So I do believe that could be 1 factor on how your skin will heal.
I do now have a regiment of skincare products which I enjoy and see benefits from.

Just wanted to give an update for all you ladies(and gents) that are dealing with this same damage and to give some hope that it can improve, that u can move on from this and live a joyfull life.

Half way through deep tissue massage and LED Therapy

Have 6 more treatments till June and then once a month.
My last pictures didnt give a honest view as my tab is broken and the camera on my old phone took very flatering pics.
I know I said I wasnt going to post till I was done doing the full series of massages and LED but I am so exited, just had to share.
These were taken today indoors and outside, in the sun and without the sun. Imagine the wrinkles not there and focus on the tracks and skin texture. The lines forming the track mark are more on the surface and not so deep. The bubbly snake texture is also more shallow. Out of the sun my skin even looks amasing. In the sunlight, still pretty good :-)
I am not saying these are miracle treatments that will melt all the issues like snow before the sun. But I am super exited and cant wait to the result in 3 months. Gonna focus on this and will think what to do (if anything) about my wrinkles end of the year. My current beautician said to give her a years for optimal result.

Update on facials

As promised an update.
Doing a series about and then once every 4 weeks for maintance.
Had 5 constructive tissue facial massages so far, combined with LED light and an AHA peel 2x. The whole treatment is about 120 minutes of which a solid hour of massage. The massage is intense and leaves bruises ( I bruise easily ) and some blood points but these all fade within 2-3 days.
I truly believe this combination of treatment is doing wonders for my skin. The tracks on my face are way less noticeable, and the weird bubbly, snake like texture is also way less noticeable.
Not doing much for my pores.
Wrinkles a bit softer but only if I don't smile so I think it s more that the tracks have softened.
Also since my " journey" I lost 14 kilos and this definitely shows in my face which probably makes the wrinkles more obvious when I smile.
I have 7 more treatments to go and after that 1x every 4 weeks for maintance.
I am comparing/basing the improvements of my skin after the devasting Dermapen treatment and am happy with the improvements. I am not comparing to as to what my skin was like before Dermapen cause then I would not be thrilled, it is still a long way from what it was before and after 22 months I doubt it will ever be as smooth as before.
Having said that, seeing my complexion improving is I am giving a thumbs up for this combination of massage plus LED.
As for the wrinkles, I have been considering a SMAS/mini face lift cause also around my mouth there is droppiness most likely due to my weight loss. But I am still very hesitant about surgery, never thought I would consider this, so gonna wait till I am done with my facials and re-evaluate at the end of this year.
Added oxygen cream and an new serum called Absolution serum, based on Granactive Retinol which the company claims is as effective as Retinol Vitamin A but has way less chance for skin irritation, mmmmmmh we shall see.

Will update in a few months to let you all know the long term effect and if I think it was worth it.

Some days I wonder if I want to see improvements or if my skin is actually improving...I think it is, but some days I think it could also be that I have just gotten used to it. Still I am feeling happy and think this is most important above all.

Added some pictures so you all can judge for yourself.
Stay strong and keep dancing x
