A lot of redness and downtime

So Much Redness and Downtime

I am going to give this a bit more time before I say not worth it, but at the moment I would have to say a definite no. I had a high energy one pass treatment. I was told this treatment was basically no risk and not much downtime, unlike traditional co2 lasers. I was not at all prepared for what I experienced following the treatment. The treatment itself was very painful, even with the anesthetic.

After the treatment I could see my face swell before my eyes and it was beetroot red. Over the next days my bright red face swelled beyond recognition, my eyes were swollen almost closed so I couldn’t even look at the computer screen or my phone. On day two some of the skin started splitting, which was very concerning as I didn’t think it was at all ready to peel. The underneath skin red raw and blistering. I applied antibiotic lotion to this which caused a reaction on the new skin and this gave me blisters everywhere, maybe it was an allergy, or maybe the new skin wasn’t ready to be exposed yet.

Honestly the healing process has been a nightmare, I was having severe panic attacks feeling like I have been disfigured, there was nothing in the instructions or online to prepare for the extreme reactions, if they happen to be a normal part of the healing process they should be explained in more detail first. I was told 2 weeks downtime, and while at the 2 week mark I was able to put some Avene tinted sunscreen on to attempt to cover the dark red marks all over my face, I certainly wouldn’t say I could comfortably go out in public at this point. It’s now been 2.5 weeks.

The blisters healed, the peeling happened but I am still covered in blotchy, very deep red marks. I’m praying every day they are not permanent, but they are not afraid fading much over the past 5 days…. Who knows yet. The doctor just said this is normal. I have some big events in a few weeks and all I want is my face back with its even skin tone. I do notice the wrinkles have decreased under my eyes, but the whole area looks red raw and burnt so I definitely wouldn’t take that as a pay off right now.

I would advise anyone getting this treatment to research as much as possible, also research the portrait as apparently they are very similar…. I sadly didn’t realize this before I underwent this treatment… there are some worrying reviews of the portrait and I would have stayed away had I have known. Be wary! I will update in a few weeks to post if things have improved and if there is any benefit at all or if this treatment burned my face.

OMG I'm so sorry about your experience. I feel similar, having panic attacks as well, every minute feels like an hour, I can't wait 10 days to pass to see if I will really heal. I didn't wanted Hugh energy all over my face, who know what the dermatologist has done...definitely did not informed me enough. I am devastated.

I’m so sorry you went through this too. How did your results end up? Did you get improvements?
Mine is still ok but in certain photos I feel like my eyes look too right and different than before, I’m a weird way.
Even if the rest of the skin looks quite good, I would never go through that again or wish it upon anyone.
I hope so much that you got a good result. It’s bloody traumatic and unfair that people are performing these treatments in such a blasé way!

Don't do it!!!

ellyharvick
I am now 5 weeks out. I still have deep red marks all over my face, especially around my eyes that don't seem to be fading. What's more concerning is the skin around my eyes feels and looks weirdly tight, like it has been burned by an iron. I am hoping things will reverse and heal in time. Right now I feel my face is ruined.
If a miracle happens and the results end up being good in time I would still say find another treatment, the downtime and damage are just not worth it. I am now cancelling events when I believed at 5 weeks I should be looking amazing. When I smile my face doesn't even look like me, I guess the tightening is pulling things in a weird direction. Every minute of every day I regret not running out of that place and escaping this horror.

Did you have low or high pulse? My face looks like that now after low, but it has only been four days. (I’m freaking out a bit just the same.)

I'm booked in for neogen plasma but I'm debating cancelling. All the horror stories seem to have been high strength treatment. Wondering how you got on with low strength and what the downtime was like?

Finally seeing benefits

Update- After 2 months of freaking out I turned a corner at 9 weeks and my skin finally, surprisingly looks pretty great!

Pros-
my skin has a glow
The tightening is starting to show and is quite significant, especially around eyes. Jawline is starting to firm up a bit too.
I have no wrinkles now, they have all actually disappeared!

Cons-
I still have the red marks, they have faded a fair bit but a few are quite prominent still. I can mostly cover them with make up now, hopefully in time they will disappear.
My pores have enlarged, they seem massive in places and are getting blocked and creating black dots… I had very fine pores before. This is a strange and slightly bothersome side effect, not sure if this is a permanent skin structure change or will bounce back in time.
For me, public downtime has been legit 2 months, which is incredibly worrying when you expect a few weeks and have to cancel many events.

I have changed my review to not sure from not worth it, as eventually this treatment has done some of the things it was supposed to do very well, but the other side effects and cons are not to be taken lightly either.

If you do this treatment just research heavily first and prepare yourself for something much more invasive than is touted online.

Dear, can you please post any update? I have done this treatment I'm only in day 3 but I am freaking out. :(

Hi Kate, how are you doing now? I hope you are feeling ok.
In the end my results were actually fantastic!
Now my skin is great, and it really did erase the lines and tighten. The issue was it took months, probably 3 to 4 months before I felt like I didn’t look weird and not like myself.
But hang in there as it definitely gets better.
My poors got smaller again and the skin become really smooth. I think I had a lot of swelling for a good few months and my face looked like a shiny ball, and quite unnatural, which is scary when you expect 2 weeks of downtime!!
It will get better though and most likely you will love the results, it’s just longer than they tell you!
The red marks eventually faded away and did disappear too.
I know it’s tough in the moment, I was beyond freaked out for a long while there. Best of luck and keep me posted how you go

Day 2. Not yet peeling. Very tight and itchy. I hope to go back to work next week bit after redding this....

Hi - So glad to read that you're doing so much better. I'm wondering how many joules your high energy was? Everything I've read seems to indicate a max of 3 for most people. That's what I had 4 days ago and it wasn't painful with numbing cream and nitrous, so that's why I'm wondering if your doc maybe overdid it, especially with the difficulties you had for nearly 9 weeks afterwards. At 4 days, my face is still freaky. (If I'd done this a week earlier, I wouldn't have needed a Halloween costume :). This was actually the part of the whole thing I was most nervous about, as I knew I'd freak out seeing myself like this. And, I am. I wish I could drape my mirror, but I need it to apply the aquafor. Sigh.

Hi - I had high energy done 4.5 weeks ago. I still have red marks, but they are definitely fading. Have seen no tightening at this point. My question for you and anyone else is: The age/dark spots/melasma I had prior to Neogen are, if anything, darker. I understood this would happen soon after the treatment, but now I'm starting to worry this is going on too long and may be permanent. I thought after the peeling was done in 2 weeks or so, the "new" skin would be clear, but mine looks exactly the same, just worse where the spots were before. Can anyone tell me how long it took for your dark spots/age spots/melasma to fade?

I had the same issue with Melasma and the dermatologist i visited treated it with a Qswitched ND Yag laser and they are rapidly fading post laser. I don't think they would have gone on their own and that's what the Dermatologist said to

Hello OMG I have had exactly the same experience as you. I recently had the treatment and 4 weeks later I still have a lot of red marks and panicking. Very blotchy almost like track marks that don't seem to be fading at all or very slowly. I was told 10 days downtime and I have had to cancel everything. I am getting a lot of conflicting advice. Some recommend using retinol and azelaic acid to get rid of the redness. Others suggest getting Vbeam to speed up the recovery from the red marks. Just like you my skin was splitting and peeling day three and leaving very raw skin. Lots of tightening for sure but what's the point. So worried I have damaged my skin. I would greatly appreciate what routine you followed to recover.Pleaseeeeee!!!! My biggest concern are the deep red marks along my jawline and chin. Thanks.

I know you weren't asking me, but: I had it now 3.5 mos ago. Still red marks on my cheeks and neck, but they are definitely fading. The cheek ones look mainly like blush, which would be fine if they were even, but one side is much larger than the other. My neck looks like my husband strangled me and the red marks are all in separate boxes, just like the machine's head. But it's also getting better, just slowly. At least in winter I can wear turtlenecks. I also got tightening, which is primarily what I wanted, but with all this downtime, I would not do it, again. The practitioner actually told me I should just have her to a "light" treatment pass that would "clear this right up." No thanks. I am confident it will fade, as it has (not so much at the 4 week mark where you are), but this is not what I signed up for. She did tell me that red LED light therapy (she knows I have a panel at home) would help, so I'm going to do that. I'll try to keep you posted, but in my limited experience, I can tell you it will fade, it will just take time.
