Much-needed Facial Liposuction!

I believe all the swelling is gone. The results are pretty natural, but that's for the best because I would NOT want skin laxity. I think this was overall a good procedure in terms of natural look -- I am glad I didn't get buccal fat removal.

There hasn't been a huge chance between month 1 and month 2. I think the way I recovered was basically lots of swelling in the first week, and then 80% recovered by second week, and then 95% normal by 1 month. I don't see a huge difference between 2 months and 1 month, even though many doctors warn that full results can't be shown for "months." Overall, I'm happy with my improvement.

After taking a horrific professional photo and recoiling in horror at how fat my face was, I began my search for a plastic surgeon who had experience with facial liposuction in the United States. My search turned up zero leads; American physicians were just not be comfortable performing liposuction on the face. Instead, several urged me to undergo buccal fat removal. I did not want to do this, as the areas of fat I wanted removed were not in the buccal fat area.

I finally turned to good ole trusty Google and typed in "facial liposuction..." and voila, I found UVOM clinic in Korea. I had gotten work done in Korea in the past and wasn't too impressed with the whole experience, so I was wary about returning there for a number of reasons.

My worries were completely alleviated as the translator provided far superior customer service. She responded to my Facebook messages immediately and provided thorough and accurate information. There was no price gouging/bargaining as other clinics in Korea tend to do. Once I arrived in Korea, she helped me with obtaining a cab repeatedly throughout the week, assisted me through the consultation process (the consultant was so kind and compassionate as well!), and walked me through the surgery. The doctor spoke to me before and after the surgery and was wonderful.

As for the surgery itself: recovery was much tougher than I'd anticipated. I was fairly nauseous after the surgery and slept for about 20 hours afterwards. I would really recommend spending AT LEAST six days in Korea. I spent five and went home extremely swollen. The doctor had to inject me with medication on the 4th day to reduce the swelling. The swelling did not subside until the 7th or 8th day, but I had to return to work on day 6. Pretty much all the swelling was gone in a few weeks.
