I have always been heavy. When I was 21 I weighed in at a whopping 145kg. Now at 183cm that put me about a size 26 (Australian). I was showing signs of multiple comorbidities and decided enough was enough and very quickly booked myself in for lap band surgery (took about 3 weeks from inspiration to the surgery date). The surgery worked well and i got down to about 100kg within a year however i quickly found myself knocked up! after the birth of my son i ballooned back up to 145kg. Managed to get back down to about 115kg when i fell pregnant again with my daughter. When she was about 7 months old i was back to my post band weight again and looked like i was 9 months pregnant again. I decided to get serious at this point and began my weight loss journey all over again. Its been around 5 1/2 years since then (my weight has been stable a year though) and i now weigh high 80's. Perfectly acceptable as far as I'm concerned.

Now my issue is excess skin. I don't have as much as you might expect (pics will follow at a later time) but what i do have bothers me. Originally i had wanted ba/bl, extended brachioplasty abdominoplasty and bbl. I then changed the bbl to medial thigh lift and found a dr that would do the surgeries in 2 operations 2 days apart. Problem was i just couldn't get seem to get replies to my emails about the next step or changes in plans and decided to try a different surgeon. I just didn't feel comfortable with their responses (or lack thereof) and wasn't ready to spend thst amount of money and put my life in the hands of someone who couldn't respond to an email. I then contacted another surgeon and had an appointment with their nurse today. She was fantastic. Answered all my questions and almost fell off her chair when I said i was getting everything done over 2 days. New plan is circumferential abdominoplasty and implants (i have mildly tuberous breasts which they like to fix over 2 surgeries) for first surgery. 2nd surgery is extended brachioplasty and medial thigh lift to knees. These will be about 2 weeks apart. Final piece will happen when implants have settled into their pockets and thdn the remaining skin will be lifted and any little fixes that need to be looked at will be altered. Its going to be longer till the finish but i think long term the results will be worth it.

Now im just waiting for the quote which hopefully isnt too far out of what I'm expecting. I already know its going to be high. I have an appointment to meet the surgeon on the first. All going well i can start the final stage of my journey and finally feel like im getting somewhere. Fingers crossed.

Update

Ashleigh85
So because its been a while i thought i would post a quick update. Everything is still going ahead...but the stages have all changed. We have now decided to do a 3 stage process (quite a difference from the initial 2 days apart!!)

Stage 1 is circumferential abdominoplasty with lipo to hips, flanks and bra roll (i dont want a full lift but just to get rid of the bulges when i wear a bra). This is set for november 28th

Stage 2 is medial thigh lift to knees and implant insertion with pocket location changes. I just got confirmation from medicare (aust government health care) that i have tuberous breasts which means i get some money back at the end and i dont need to pay for the anaesthesia (only during lipo) as its classed as resonstructive rather than cosmetic. 9th jan

Stage 3 is going to be around june. Breast lift after the implants have settled into their new homes and an extended brachioplasty elbow to bra line.

Super nervous but excited. Will post pics closer to time.

I'm being brave

Ashleigh85
So I have decided that now that I'm less than 2 weeks out from stage 1 (circumferential abdominoplasty with lipo to hips, outer thighs, abdomen and upper back (dont want the full upper back lift so im hoping this will keep me happy)). It is time to be brave and post some pics.

I hate how i look. I know some people might say its not too bad but for me its just a constant reminder of the old me. Im 32 now and im getting married in october so i want to feel beautiful for the first time ever.

Im not adking for perfect i just want to be happy with myself. I have added a few wish pics. These are really wishful but the surgeon seems very confident he can achieve some great results. I dont smoke or drink and im a nurse so im ok with wound care plus im young still with good skin and i scar well. All things in my favour. Im about to pay for my first stage (aud12k!!!) A very scary thing. So much money but for me its going to be worth it mentally...i hope.

Stage 2 has now changed to arms and thighs and stage 3 will be june and correction of tuberous breast deformity with lift and implants and correction of anything else im not happy with.

I cannot rate my team highly enough. Ill go into more details later but sculpt, adrian, theresa and cheyenne have all made this so much easier. Right now im 150% happy with my decision to change. I never felt truly confident in my initial surgeon.

I have received my final quotes back (prices including assorted lipo too and in aud)

Abdomen 12000
Thighs 8000
Arms 70000
Breasts 8500

Total 35500.
Its a lot of money but its going to be duch a confidence boost so i just dont care
