Neck Lift Was a Waste

Lump gone but Dimple appeared
The lump on right receded after a total of 5 weeks but a dimple formed on end of scar on left side. Change was a surprise When face is down this created an upward crease that is visible in a front view and keads to my Jowl line. It looks like a small ripple of skin. I don't know if this will go away either. Waiting for it to fade and disappear. My picture will clearly show the dimple. Even though my neck looks smooth it is because it is stretched. Otherwise the line still shows up. Make up can't conceal a dimple or call it an inverted lump. Scars are as so important when they are exposed on the face, they defeat their purpose when they are ugly and exposed. But I do understand this operation was preformed with other time consuming procedures and time was short. Price wise, I got what I paid for, sewed up platysmals but no bells and whistles. I will be doing a skin only mini face lift next year in Montreal to fix the jowls and conceal my scars by tightening my skin beneath my neck. Hopefully this will push it flat under my chin and be less visible from all angles.

Lump and Line
My update includes a picture if the lump at the end of the incisions which are visible from a side view. It looks like a mole and is very depressing. The lines from my platysmal muscle is still visible too creating a mini turkey neck. Loose neck skin and jowls remain despite a huge scar that could have tightened the skin. Overall I am experiencing a depression because of the the ugly lumpy scar and neck lines . :(

ORIGINAL POST
Neck Lift Was a Waste
I was looking forward to a neck lift that would remove my unseemingly lines of the platysmal muscles. At my consultation I stressed that it was the loose skin that was created the vertical lines on my neck and requested a nip and tuck to remove the excess skin instead if an invasive sewing up of the platysmal muscles. He said I should let him "Do his job" and sew them up since he can see the lines as I was speaking. I mentioned the loose skin was really embarrassing to me and sometimes I even use tape behind my neck to make it look smoother. I found that answer to be disrespectful and not in line with my goals. The last thing a patient wants to hear when they are explaining their desired goals to a surgeon, whether or not they can be achieved is that specific answer. I travelled from Canada and felt pressured to put my trust in him to resolve this problem. Post op I was wearing a head mask and couldn't see the results. Before I left the country, I did remove the head mask and had a good look at my scars and neck. I was mortified to see a vertical line and excess skin just like before. And to top it off, my scar was huge, from the right to left edge of my jawline with a raised edge on the right side that looks like a small lump. I couldn't believe this was a neck lift. The point of the operation was to remove excess skin and vertical lines on the neck. I cannot believe I have this huge scar and continue to have loose neck skin and a prominent vertical line. I still have a triangular neck junction as before, call it a mini turkey neck.Yes he sewed the platysmal muscles but that is the only change I see. Instead of two lines now I have one and a big scar. I feel I will have to redo my neck in the future and have the excess skin removed. My jaw line has not changed either, I thought a neck lift can improve and tighten the jaw line as I had seen on many before and after necks lifts on Real Self. He told me that can only be addressed by mini face lift. I question that response. I feel very dissatisfied with the result and should have had skin removal too to justify that huge scar. My other procedures went well. But that will be addressed separately.

What type of neck lift was this? Direct neck lift?
This was a neck lift that targeted the platysmal musvle, they were seen together to stop two vertical lines from the edges of the muscle from appearing.
