Today, I am 35 days post-op deep plane neck lift with Dr. Demetri. I am only 39, but I had premature sagging jowls, double chin, and loose skin on my neck. This actually had been a problem for most of my adult life - not having a well-defined neck, that is. The jowling started in the past 3-4 years and became worse during the stresses of 2020. I tried a liposuction procedure about 6 years prior but it only made my neck worse.
I opted to do the deep plane neck lift awake at the office, which I do not recommend for people who are squeamish, but it was fine for me. Intense, but fine, and I'd do it this way again.
Everyone at this office is so kind, fun, nice, and professional, including Dr. Demetri. He has great bedside manner, an actual personality, and he was honest about what procedure would give me the result I was looking for. At first I was really skeptical that a deep plane neck lift was right for me because of my young age, but he made a good point and I believe it to be correct - it's not about the patient's age, it's about the result you want and the procedure it takes to give it to you. And in my case, it was the neck lift. Liposuction alone was not going to address the premature jowling and sagging skin.
The recovery has been a VIBE for sure, but worth it. I highly recommend getting multiple lymphatic massages with Ari. I see and feel a major difference after them. I've had 3 now and I will probably get another as I am one of those patients that apparently stays swollen forever despite eating healthy and drinking water.
As for the pain, the night of the surgery it was a full 7/10. The next night like a 3/10, and by day 3-5 it was like a 2/10. Insanely crazy how fast the pain subsides. Then you're left with the discomfort of swelling and tightness from the new position of all the underlying tissues. I don't think anybody talks about how TIGHT you feel from this procedure. It. Is. TIGHT. But that's what we want - a nice, tight, youthful jawline. The tightness is supposed to subside as time goes on. Invest in Tylenol 500.
Overall, I have no regrets and I'd let Dr. Demetri reposition the insides of my face anytime!
