Wow! I can't believe I am 2 months PO. Things are moving along really great. I almost have all of the feeling back in my tummy. I am sleeping on my sides but have not yet started to sleep on my tummy. I have also started back working out and I am loving it! I will start back working my abs this week as well! Life is good! HAPPY Healing everyone!!

Wow! you really look great! I bet you are looking forward to summer and showing off that goddess-like figure!! What type of exercise do you do- like cardio/weights? I'm really looking forward to getting back to exercising too. Prior to surgery I was worried about a long recovery time and possible weight gain, but with the appetite changes & what felt like my stomach size being reduced to about 1 cup (not to mention thinking about $$ spent) I ended up losing weight. Did you experience any of the GI symptoms- like reduced appetite or not being able to eat very much at once in the immediate post-op period? if so, now that you are 2 months out- is it the same? Also- did you start scar treatment? what type? Thanks so much for the updates and pics

1 month post op

anewme12
I am officially 1 month post op and i feel great! I am pretty flat in the morning when I wake up but in the afternoons i start experiencing swelling. I am happy this far with my results. I still wear my binder at night when I go to bed and I also wear a faja...during the day after I get off work up until bed time. I have started doing light exercise such as walking. I am eagerly awaiting the moment tthat I can start back working out vigorously. My next post op appointment is on February 7 and i am hoping to start scar treatment at that time. Happy healing everyone!

Thanks for your post! My surgery is scheduled for Tuesday. Anxiety has set in. Like you, though, I work out 6-7 days a week and, thanks to working with a personal trainer a couple of years ago, really focus on my core. (I was hoping to get rid of that momma tummy through exercise but finally realized there's nothing I can do about the split muscles.) I'm hoping it will help to speed up my recovery. I have 4 kids and a very busy husband. I can't afford much down time. And I think the lack of exercise is going to drive me crazy!

Not being able to exercise had really been my only complaint. I am glad that at least I'm able to walk now! So I'll Take it! I'll be following your journey and please continue to update! ☺

Just wondering if your PS advised against scar treatment at your last appointment. I started scar treatment after my 3 week post op appointment. I know all PS are different.

Yes...he did advise against scar treatment. ...he said after 1 month...

Progress!

anewme12
Wow...what a difference a couple of days make. Recovery is going good and I don't have any complaints. I went to my post op appointment on yesterday and my doctor is very pleased with my progress. I am still experiencing swelling and hardness around my abdomen. I know with time it will decrease. Here is an updated pic of my incision scar without the steri strips. My doctor changed them out yesterday and cleaned the scar. It felt really good. I was also give a massage and a skin tightening regimen where he put some type of gel on my abdomen and flanks and applied heat with a machine that gently massaged the gel into my skin. There is a name for this procedure but I can't think of it right now. Happy healing everyone!
