at end of refinement period

I'm two weeks from finishing my 3 month refinement period and it appears I will need to go back again. bottom teeth again are the biggest issue but top, which needed needed less adjustment, is still not correct either. My bottom teeth will never be beautiful, but I would like them straight. Anyway, going to schedule another scan and see what they say. In total I will have been in treatment 11 months now.

Refinement is a natural process through any orthodontic treatment. Every smile is different and every smile contains different bone density. Therefore, some smiles take more time to move rather than what was originally predicted by the licensed dental professional assigned to your case. Let us know if you have any questions.

Not Going To Make It

I am midway through my 8th and final month and it is clear my teeth, especially by bottom teeth, are not going to be properly aligned when finished. While they have moved a great deal they are far from straight. I contacted customer services and they responded to say I could enter into their "refinement" program at no additional cost. I am really disappointed with how far off my teeth are. I will update once this refinement period begins with my experience.

hi, I am in week two of my Refinement. I can honestly say is was pretty quick and painless. I went for a new scan here in Nashville and they sent me my new plan within a week, and my entire three months of aligners in about two weeks. This set definitely fits much better to my teeth. looking back, My advice to anyone in this program is to reach out when something does not seem right. I could tell my bottom teeth were not fitting properly with the aligners about 5 months in but sorta trusted the system, and I should have done something about it then. Anyway, hoping this final three months will do the trick, will continue to update.

Additionally, regarding SmileDirect in general, I think everyone I have been in contact with has been exceedingly nice and they have a much nicer facility here in Nashville from just 8 months ago. The downside is they are not the most organized.

half way through my 8 month treatment and all is well. In fact they sent my last set of aligners early! I was tempted to speed up my trays by only going one week with the 3rd set last month but figured best I stay the course! Anyway, my top teeth are definitely noticeably straighter. Bottom teeth still have a long way to go but are well on their way to looking great. I realize this treatment won't work for everyone but I cannot imagine enduring conventional braces. There has been very little discomfort or even annoyance with this treatment. Four more months to a proud smile!!

It's definitely best to stay the course and wear your aligners for the prescribed amount of time. Glad to hear the aligners are working for you--thanks for sharing your experience!
