Please spend the extra money and see a real dentist. This is not worth the crap you have to go through. This was supposed to be a 6 month deal. I am 10 months into this and my teeth look worse. You can’t reach anyone beyond a floor supervisor and you never even speak with a dentist. They just want your money

We're concerned to hear that you've gotten this impression. The reason we do what we do is to make our customers feel happy and confident in their smiles. We would like to clarify that reevaluation is a normal aspect of aligner treatment, as there's no way to predict exactly how fast or slow a person's teeth will move. This is why we provide this service free of charge to customers who require more shifting for optimal results.

To say that there is no way to predict exactly how fast or slow a person’s teeth will move is in every response I get. In fact, that is exactly what you are doing when you create a 3D plan showing the expected progression of your customers. So it is deceiving. And, my teeth have moved but not in the right direction so I have to believe that is because of the aligners and process as I do everything I am supposed to do on my end. Nobody would purchase the invisaligners if you told them we might be able to fix your teeth in the next year or 2. And, if they are not right we will consider a refinement but it will take a couple of months to get the process started so expect a delay in treatment if you need refinement. And u should follow through with what you promise your customers.

Most importantly, nobody’s teeth should look worse than before they started wearing your invisaligners.

The truth of the matter is I have never spoken with a dentist. The closest I got was a dental assistant. And I have many regrets that I chose this method. Had I known then what I know now I would have gone to a local orthodontist. I have been told that they are going to correct my situation but time will tell. I won’t give them any credit until they prove themselves. And if they don’t, there are other avenues I will take.

And I am aware of the fact that I can file complaints. I am going to give them a chance to make this right. I am a registered nurse and have worked in risk management in the past. My son is a lawyer. I already have the forms I need to file a complaint but they have promised they will fix this so I will give them the opportunity. Hopefully they will follow through and in a timely fashion.

Thank you. Everyone needs to be aware of this information

By the way, the first 2 pics are before the SmileDirectClub invisaligners and the next 2 pics that show more crooked teeth and with gaps are what SmileDirectClub invisaligners did to my teeth

Hi there. I'd be happy to clarify -- the SmilePlan provided is a projection. That said, the Consent and History signed by all customers details exactly why the SmilePlan is a projection and that there might be additional aligners needed depending on how the teeth track. Again, there's no way to predict this. If a customer would like to "chat" with a dental professional, they can through the link to their SmilePlan in the customer account. Our customer care team can also act as a liaison between customer and dental professional. A customer's licensed dentist or orthodontists name is included on your aligners, and we can also provide that information to a customer that calls in.

The fact that her teeth clearly look worse needs to be addressed, instead of blaming her for signing a Consent form that says additional aligners may be needed. I could understand a month or 2, but it's over a year and her teeth look worse than what she began with. Why can't she speak to a "dental professional," whatever that means, directly?

The SmilePlan provided is a projection of tracking and time frame. That said, with any medical procedure, this projection isn't guaranteed. This is outlined in the Consent and History form presented to and signed by all customers before beginning treatment.

Hi. What forms are you talking about that you need to file a complaint? I would like to make a formal complaint as my teeth look worse now than when I started and I am still getting charged.

Still here with crooked teeth over a year now

I am so disgusted with SmileDirectClub. I have been wearing invisaligners for over a year and they still can’t get my teeth straightened. The first 6-9 months created gaps and caused my teeth to be more crooked than they were to start. My teeth were not that bad to start and I only wish I had went to a dentist that I could see and speak to because the customer service at SmileDirectClub sucks big time. After a total of 9 mos I finally got their attention and received communication from one of their dental professionals named Amber Medsker who promised that she would work closely with me to ensure that everything would go smoothly. Well guess what? I am at the last week of my 3rd refinement period and my teeth are still not straight and when I contacted Amber Medsker she sent me an email telling me that she was moved to a new department and she referred me back to customer care. So back to square one because they don’t seem to know anything about what you’ve already been through. I am considering legal action and maybe that is what they need in order to get their attention.

Did you go to one of their stores and have a 3d scan, or did you do the self impression kit? Most of the horror stories I've seen from SDC all resulted from those impression kits.
If you haven't had a 3d scan for revision you might try that. I don't know if there's anything else to try at this point. Everything they've done up to this point has been incredibly incompetent.

They really never even should have accepted you. Your teeth are already in alignment, the only problems with them is rotation. They are slightly rotated causing visible asymmetry. The problem is, SDC's aligners can't fix rotations problems. The aligners can only push or pull. They can't rotate. They needed to send you to an ortho. That's the only treatment option for minor revisions like yours. The attachments they put on Invisalign are what allows rotation. That why some orthos will use Invisalign(with attachments) now, for treatments that would have required metal braces in the early 2000s.

Even if SDC fixes the gaps they created, your teeth will look almost exactly like they did before treatment.

Qualified orthodontists, who spent an extra 3 years in school after getting their dentistry degree are really qualified to straighten teeth, and do much more. They can change patients’ life.

I began with SDC in October 2016 and today (yes, I still have aligners.) I'm supposed to be done in a month. While my overbite seems to be corrected, my right lateral incisor just will not straighten correctly. It took from January until May to get my refinement plan started (From impressions to approval to the aligners being created and sent to me). Smile Direct Club relies to heavily on internet technology and lacks the common sense to pick up the phone and discuss issues. They really need to re-evaluate how they work with customers to resolve issues. That being said, my teeth have improved but not the way the original straightening plan promised. Good luck if you choose SDC-but I would highly recommend a local orthodontist who you can physically visit!

I am currently on my second refinement plan which took 5 months to receive. My teeth are straighter but not what was originally promised as my right lateral incisor won't correct. In late March of this year, they made me sign a new "Consent" before they would send my refinement aligners. The difference between the old consent and the new consent was that it lists all complaints need to be sent to some attorney in New York. I only paid $1500 for my aligners and will probably just get the retainers after this so they don't shift. I am considering requesting a retainer from a local orthodontist instead of paying $100 per year for the SDC retainers as their customer service is horrible. Anyhoo-I , personally, will not be paying my own lawyer a $3000 retainer fee to fight a $1500 treatment plan. SDC really needs to re-evaluate their business plan.

same thing happened to me!!
