Someone suggested I add some additional info about the Sculptra. Guess I should since I came here earlier and read some negative feedback on it. Not my experience. I am always guessed to be younger than my age. I do take good care of my skin now though I spent years baking it up into my 30s. What has visibly aged me most is loss of volume in my face. I'm thin. 100 pounds. As I've aged I started losing volume in my face and became very angular, bony and sunken cheeks. It was a hard, harsh look. I used Juvederm for a while and loved the results but it was becoming expensive injecting every 6 mos and to really fill in the cheek area would have required a lot of product. We did this for a couple of years and finally Dr. Biesman suggested I look into Sculptra. I had another friend who had been pleased with it. I thoroughly trust Dr. Biesman as he's had years of experience with injectables in general but it's hard to find a doctor with as much experience in Sculptra in my area as he has. Note that I would never trust just anyone to inject this product since it is a little more permanent than some of the others. It appears to me that those upset with their results were using it in areas that it really shouldn't be used (under eye for one...I would never put it there) or their injector didn't have enough experience.

I did my first syringe a few months ago and was thrilled with the immediate results. Note that you will be full immediately because it is injected with a liquid base that actually is absorbed in about a week. The fullness then builds back up over the next few weeks. After a few weeks I knew that although I looked considerably better I would be happier with a second treatment so my total treatment was 2 syringes (2 visits) over a few months. I highly recommend doing it this way. It gives you the opportunity to fill in only if you need more. Why do 2 the first time if perhaps you could get away with one but most people probably do need 2. Doing them separately allows you to tweak a little better IMO. So in actuality I spent a couple thousand but if my results are over a 2 year span as expected it is still cheaper than other fillers.

I only used this in the hollows of my cheeks. It looks natural and I still have prominent cheek bones so it was definately done with a master's touch :)

It hurts for the first few days. Soreness. A numbing agent is in the injection so the injection itself is not painful. You need to massage the area to ensure even distribution for a few days. I also took vitamin C as that is supposed to encourage collagen production. I did not bruise much at all. Just a few dots but I did use arnica cream (my own choosing, not suggested by physician specifically) and I think that minimizes bruising for me. I went to work that same night and every day after that week with no need to hide.

So my experience was positive but again I think it has so much to do with using it only in the appropriate areas and having an incredibly skilled physician do it...in my case it was Dr. Brian Biesman.
