Day 2

I woke up this morning feeling like I'd been hit by a bus - a couple of ibuprofens have helped. My husband and I unwrapped me and took a peek at my axilla area - I almost cried from happiness - I never thought I'd be without those pouches of fat. I can't wait to go shopping for some tank tops and strapless dresses!

I'm writing this review because I did a lot of searching for results of lipo of the axilla and there isn't much. What I did find made me a little nervous, as some people don't see much of a change due to the fact that it might be breast tissue they're dealing with, not necessarily just fat. My doctor completely understood this and assured me that he would address my issue with that in mind. And he really did!

Hopefully I'll be able to get the before pics from my doctor so I can put a comparison up here. The pain isn't fun (my belly feels like I did a thousand sit-ups), but it's completely manageable and totally worth it!

My once-flat tummy decided to do its own thing...

My once-flat tummy decided to do its own thing about two years ago when I started peri-menopause. Not one to accept this gracefully, I thought long and hard about having lipo, as my good eating and exercise habits weren't helping at all. I also decided that I may as well get rid of the extra fat in my axilla area, which I've had since childhood, and which no amount of pec flies would even touch!

So, today was the day. By 8:00 a.m. I was out like a light, under a MAC (monitored anesthesia care. I adamantly refused a general.) Next thing I knew, I was waking up, fully padded and wearing a compression garment. I'd worried about what the garment would feel like, i.e., would it be hard to breath in, would it feel uncomfortably tight, but it's actually really comfortable - even comforting!

I went home from the surgical center with antibiotics and narcotics for pain relief. I don't like the idea of taking narcotics, so when I got home, I took two Extra Strength Tylenols and I feel awesome. I'm truly surprised at how good I feel so soon after surgery. I've been walking around the house (with help from my husband) every hour or so - you have to keep moving to prevent blood clots.

Hopefully the pain will stay minimal, but I don't know how much local anesthetic is left, so I'm not sure what to expect tonight, but so far, six hours post surgery, I'm doing great. It also helps that I have the most amazing husband in the world, who is here for me every step of the way.

I'd been so nervous about doing this - worry kept me up a good part of last night - but if I'd known what it would really be like, I would've slept like a baby!
