WORTH IT$350
I did Cosmelan in May '15 and learned some major lessons that I'm completely throwing out the window this time around. In 2015 I did the treatment through a local medspa which was great, but this time around I purchased it off eBay and am doing it myself. (The application is straightforward and the seller had 100% positive feedback.)
One of the lessons I learned in 2015 was that a week off work wasn't nearly enough. Yet this time around I plan on going back to work tomorrow (Thursday & Friday) and, luckily, Monday's a holiday. If I'm as red as last time, I'll stay home the next two days. But, like I said, last time I learned a week wasn't long enough so I'm not sure what I'm thinking! My plan is to actually leave it on less time than last time since I don't need another full overhaul, per se, but more like a maintenance peel. The discoloration has lightly come back around my cheeks — though only a fraction of what it looked like before my original peel. Honestly, I could've continued to live with it as is, it really wasn't that but, but I'm as vain as the next person and it was starting to bother me. Knowing what to expect this time around I'm just telling myself that the peeling and embarrassment is a small price to pay. The worst will be over in no time and I'll have glowy baby skin again.
So I'll leave the peel on a little less than 8 hours this time (or perhaps even just 6 hours depending on how I'm feeling) and will use Cosmelan 2 once at night every couple days rather than 2x/day the first couple weeks as instructed. I didn't use it that diligently last time and yet still had incredible results, so this time I'm going to use it even more sparingly only on the areas I'm really targeting.
I was just so impressed by the results the last time I did Cosmelan. For anyone self-conscious about their discoloration, this peel is well worth the downtime and embarrassment of peeling for a solid month (seriously - it continues and continues) and the orange tinge from Cosmelan 2. It's a month of ego discomfort for a year or so of being pigmentation free — +/- depending on how diligent you are in continuing Cosmelan 2; pretty sure I stopped using it once it really started oxidizing, though the instructions say that doesn't affect it it's efficacy, so this time around I'll keep using it every couple nights until I run out.
I've got the peel on my face now and I'll let you know tomorrow how long I ended up leaving it on and whether or not I'm heading into work. I'm still undecided about posting photos. FYI...I'm a Fitzpatrick type I-II.

Did it work this time?
I'm thinking of buying the set, and doing it at home myself. As per the comments below, did it work? Is the stuff one can buy on eBay or Amazon the same as the products used in the spas?
Could you tell me where you got your cosmelan? Do you think that Med spas will have it for sale? Did the home results compare to the professional results?
Please post pics when you're ready - love to see those results! How long does the orange tinge last?
