Hi,
I am using a German equivalent of this product - not sure I can mention the name but it is a weaker solution of the same stuff. I am 59 and have been using it for 2 years and notice no side effects at all, if anything there is less darkness around my eyes. Nothing. It regenerated my skimpy eyelashes miraculously that I used to pull out as a child and effectively destroyed. I am very blonde and I believe everyone has a different reaction, but it appears that fair skinned people support it better. However, just in case I use it only about once a week now - as a maintenance.
Oh wow! it's good to hear that!! How do you get this product, do you need a prescription?
No, you can order it on Amazon. But it is probably the same, but a bit different. I have read negative comments (just a few) in German, but on the whole it is popular and the number one selling product there. Aphro Celina Eyelash Serum 3ml - maybe not as strong, but a miracle for me and probably a good compromise from what I read.
Thank you!!
Yes it does! It did to me. I recently had a consultation with a plastic surgeon who specializes in upper eyelid fillers. He asked me immediately if I used Latisse. He showed me pictures of many patients that experienced this side effect. RAPIDLASH does the same thing. It supposedly does not have the same ingredients but they’ve been in court with Allergan (makers if Latisse over the ingredients). They must be using some sort of equivalent because my eyelids got hollow. I will never use it again!!

Hi everyone!! I've been using Lumigan (which...

Hi everyone!! I've been using Lumigan (which is the same as latisse) for almost 2 weeks now. I apply it every night on the upper lash line with a thin eyeliner brush which I try to maintain very clean to prevent any infections in my eyes. I haven't experienced any side effects except for a thin brownish line on the lash line, I don't think it looks bad since I can only see it when looking very close on the mirror. I have very short eyelashes and decided to try Lumigan since it's also meant to reduce the eye pressure and I have glaucoma. I'm only 25 years old and been using Latanoprost as a treatment for glaucoma for about 5 years now. So I thought Lumigan would be safer for me rather then other lash enhancers that have other ingredients that may cause other effects. I go to my ophthalmologist every month to check my eye pressure and since I'm applying Latanoprost I have to be very careful when I apply Lumigan to not get it into my eye since that would reduce my eyepressure and be super low which is also bad.... I've read about the side effects of Lumigan (Latisse) and some people are experiencing Sunken Eyes!! That is something that scares me, but at the same time I have puffy eyes and wouldn't mind loosing some fat around my eyes, but my BIG Question is: When the fat cells shrink because of the use of Lumigan will they continue to shrink over time??????!!!!!!!!! I mean, When you experience periorbital fat loss and you like it since it helped with your puffy eyes, will you continue to loos fat around your eyes until they look sunken/hollow or until you look like a zoombie??
As I said before I think my eyes would look better if I loose some fat around them, but I want to know if my eyes will continue to sink in with the use of Lumigan??

I will post some pictures now at the beginning of the treatment and will keep you updated!!

Hi. Sorry I can't help with your question, but what I feel compelled to tell you is that you already have long, thick and dark eyelashes so I'm not sure why you would want to do anything which might have an unpleasant side effect. Just not sure if you realise how fabulous your eyelashes already look! Seriously - I'm not just trying to be nice!
Thank you!! :) I wish they would stay like this, but I think it's because of the use of Lumigan, I know it's only been 2 weeks of use but I did not have them like this before, so I start seeing the results but at the same time I think about this side effect...
Yes do take your beautiful eyes into consideration .. Some people got there eyes some what back to normal slowly and some have been left to consider doing surgical procedures to fix them it's not worth it !
Thank you for your comment!! I really don't want to go through that...
Hi, I use latisse and have experienced a slight hollowing of periorbital area AND a reduction in the 'bags' underneath my eyes. This happened after about a month of use. I have been using it for about a year and don't mind either side effect, although it has altered the look of my eye. If I feel like its becoming too hollow I take a week off, and the lashes aren't really effected.
Thanks for your comment, so basically when you take that week off the fat comes back on the periorbital area?
Not completely, but it fills in slightly. I'd advise that if you are not happy with what you see, stop for a while until it fills in to where you are comfortable, then apply every other day. Be sparing about application too--I never use the brushes but just apply directly to the base of the lashes, from the inside to the outer edge of the top lash.
Thank you so much!!!! It makes a lot of sense... once I get the results I want, I won't apply it as often as I do now, that will prevent the sunken eyes... I really appreciate your advice!!!!
Ladies, take it from one who learned the hard way, this is nothing to mess around with, it is just not worth taking the chance. It is a drug, and it's absorbed into your system. Some side effects may be minor in some people, but they can also be very serious and can be irreversible. I had extreme periorbital fat loss resulting in severe ptosis that required difficult surgery plus two revisions. This was after using only a minimal amount very judiciously, not every day, and applied with a fine brush right at the lash line. Others report an actual sinking of the eyeball into the socket as supporting fat structures are destroyed. The fat loss is very gradual and subtle while most focus on the lengthening lashes. There's also a risk of eye color change, with reports on here from women who have suffered that consequence as well. Be safe. Use mascara or even lash extensions when you really need extra length. Hisabisa, if you've noticed eye changes, even subtle ones that partially reverse, that's a major red flag. Listen to the warning signs your body is giving you. I didn't, and paid a steep price. x
That is awful Cameron, I'm so sorry you went through that! You are right, this is a drug and YMMV. It just goes to show that you have to pay attention to everything that is happening with it, not just the lash thickening! I do want to reiterate that despite what I've read on this site, I personally am pleased with what happened with the look of my eyes with bimatoprost, the slight hollowing I mentioned. But I have fatty eyelids :) Also I experienced no color change whatsoever, and neither have any of the 6+ ladies in my friend group who use it as well.
You are right. I'm sorry you had to go through that and thank you for sharing with us your story. I stopped using it last night..
Please.....stop using it. I used it for four years. Caused darkening of my eyelids. Increased eyelid veins. Hollowness of eyes. Not really reversible. Side effects fade but still there. Please try WINK eyelash serum. That is natural.....and it works. Latisse damages the eye and ages it....worsens vision. No matter how hard you try to keep the Latisse from getting into your eyes it is inevitable. It seeps in regardless. Please PLEASE stop as soon as you can.
I have completely stopped using ALL eyelash growth serums including WINK. I believe I used Latisse for too long that it made my eyes super duper sensitive to anything I put on them....including Vitamin e oils or Castor, Coconut oil. However if you absolutely NEED results..
go with Wink. Not advertising just saving someone from making the damage I caused and wish I would've never started.
Your eyes are beautiful by the way. You don't need to lose any fat around them. They're lovely and youthful looking....you don't need to change a thing.
Thank you! I already stopped using Lumigan. Thank you again
Oh ok it's good to know that. I'll try Wink and I hope it works
Yes it does honey keep looking in real self you will get the real ugly truth!
Thank you for your comment!
I've been using Latisse for about one and 1/2 years and I haven't noticed any difference in the fat around my eyes. I did experience a lightening of my dark brown eye color and also an improvement in my vision back to 20/30 which is better than when I first got eyeglasses about 8 years ago. I use Latisse on my eyebrows, too. It works great to keep them dark and thick. After the first 6 months, I reduced my Latisse use to every other day and am able to keep the improvements to my brows and lashes. I haven't noticed any bad side-effects.
Eventually you will. It subtly and slowly over time worsens your eyes. My eyes never felt better. Eyes got worse and I developed dry eye. People would literally comment at the reddish line around my eyes. Asking why they were so red? It spread further onto the skin around my eyes. I used it for 4 years almost 5. You do not notice bad things because you're so focused on the beautiful lashes. Longer, curlier, thicker, more in volume, darker that you really do not take notice to the damage.
I was very excited about this product but I don't think it's worth it.
Latisse/Careprost is and has been used for many years in the eyes for glaucoma. If it's safe to use directly in and on the eyes, it should be safe to use on the skin around the eyes.
My ophthalmologist said he was not surprised that Latisse had made improvements in my eye health. I also have borderline high eye pressure and that also has been lowered.
Have you had any side effects?
Ladies,
you should not use this product so often.. Once a week more than enough, once in two/three weeks - would be perfect. Otherwise no wonder if you have a higher chance of bad side effect.
