I always HATED my nose. Since I noticed a prominent and very boney looking bump appear when I was about 13 it just seemed to get worse and worse. I was cripplingly self-conscious and was convinced it was all anyone would notice. I would always try to cover my face with my hair and was horrified at having my photo taken. After finally working up the courage to get rhinoplasty started to do a lot of research. This is the most important part. Do as much research as possible! I followed a lot of rhinoplasty diaries on Instagram which was a huge help. I learned a lot about what to expect and it was the best preparation possible. As a very anxious person by nature it was important to me to feel confident in the right surgeon. After reading some reviews of Mr Quaba and Spire I decided to book a consultation. Spire are fantastic! You wouldn't believe how reassuring the staff are. I was extremely nervous while I waited for my appointment but Mr Quaba put me at ease almost immediately. Not only does he have a very calming presence but he LISTENED to everything I had to say. He gave his professional option without ever making me feel forced into anything. I had a list of questions for him and he was happy to go through them all and explain any concerns I had in full.

As the surgery approached I was starting to get really nervous as I'd never had surgery before but I also felt very confident in Mr Quaba's abilities. I never had any doubts and knew I was in safe hands. When I arrived at the hospital everyone was so friendly and sweet and very reassuring which is exactly what I needed. The anesthetist came to visit me and discuss what would be happening and listened to any worries I had. Again this was very reassuring. Finally Mr Quaba came to visit me before my procedure and go through everything again with me and we discussed what result I wanted. This was essential for me as I had my worries that perhaps he would have forgotten what we had discussed at our first appointment as a few months had passed. I needent have worried as he remember everything but it's still really great to know he does this with all patients.

My surgery was scheduled for 8am so it all
moved very quickly for me. I have very little memory of being put to sleep at all. All I remember is getting a wee injection in my wrist then next thing I knew I was waking up (very groggy like I'd had a very heavy night of drinking) and before I knew it I was wheeled back into my room and it was only about 11:30am.

Pain was very minimal for me. I noticed a small bit of nipping in the tip of my nose as the night went on but the nurses were on hand regularly. A couple of ibuprofen and paracetamol was all I needed.

Eating was tricky while wearing the drip pad but the food was very good! I was really surprised at the service and quality.

Nurses would pop in and check on me throughout the night to make sure I was ok, well fed and had plenty to drink. They also gave me ice water and gauze patches to put on my face to reduce any swelling. Mr Quaba also came into visit me and told me that the surgery went exceptionally well and he was very happy with the he result. This was really great to hear! Having the packing removed the next morning was completely painless, just very weird. Not the most pleasant experience but it felt a lot more comfortable to have it out. My swelling was minimal and I was amazed at the lack of bruising. I literally had a wee purple bit in the corner of my left eye and a small blue/purple patch to the left of my nose and that was it! It all turned yellow and by the time I had my splint off 6 days later my bruising was completely gone.

It was made clear to me that I should feel free to contact the hospital at any time, day or night the ought my recovery and was given a number to call. I was given plenty of painkillers as well as a cream for my incision and a nasal wash to wash away any blood from the inside of my nose.

I had a fair bit of bleeding the next morning once my packing was removed so had drip pads taped to my face to soak this up. This stopped completely by that evening and I never had so much as a drip after that. The nasal rinses also helped to remove any dried blood and kept me feeling clean and fresh.

I was so anxious to get my splint off. By day 6 as it was starting to itch and feel a bit tight but more than anything I was dying to see my result. having stitches removed was relatively painless and the splint came off a lot quicker and easier than I expected. Mr Quaba visited me again at this appointment. It was was nerve wracking waiting to see my reflection but I was instantly relived! It was swollen but not nearly as much I was expecting but more importantly, it was straight and completely SMOOTH! I was over the moon!

As the months passed I noticed very slight changes in my nose from week to week. It became a little smaller and more and more refined until it was spot on about 6 months later.

Overall my experience with Spire and Mr Quaba was exceptional! I'm cannot recommend him enough. He is the best around! I'm am so happy with my result. He has changed my life. I no longer feel like I need to hide my nose and that people are staring at me. Best feeling ever! The staff are also excellent. Rhinoplasty is a nerve wracking experience so it's essential to feel confident in your surgeon's abilities and to know that you will be safe and well looked after.

Thank you Mr Quaba and all the staff at Spire!

No more hiding behind your hair! Thank you for joining us and sharing your story. You did a great job explaining your surgery in detail and you review will be so helpful to countless others researching this procedure. To confirm, was your packing taken out the next day?

We would love to see your transformation, would you consider sharing some before and after photos?

Wow, your nose looks amazing.. I had a rhinoplasty done by me quaba around 5 months ago. My nose doesn't look great, but I'm hoping for it to improve with time. There is still small bump - it was meant to be gone.. Anyway, mr quaba reassured me that we won't leave me unhappy and will correct things that I don't like, when the swelling is gone. Did your nose change significantly between the cast removal and 6 months post op? Xx

Thank you! I wouldnt say there were dramatic changes but when i look back at photos I have taken throughout the process I would say so. These sort of changes are definately more noticeable to me than anyone else. I still have the smallest bump when looking at my face from the right hand side (45 degree angle) but it doesnt bother me. The most important thing to remember that there is no such thing as a perfect nose and even the most beautiful people in the world have these wee bumps etc. I like how it's very natural looking. perfect similtary is weird! It's 1000x better than what I had. My tip and bridge had the most swelling as this is where I got most work done. I noticed my bridge seemed really pronounced and far away from my face (if that makes sense) for the first few months but the swelling has gone down quite a bit. The tip was also much more rounded and less refined for a while. I think this also emphasided the wee bump and it has since appeared much straighter as these two areas of swelling have gone down. It's also worth pointing out that I'm a quick healer. I always have been, so I believe my swelling has gone down much quicker than most. I barely even bruised after surgery. x x

Good to hear that... I'm a slow healer, I think.:-/ and my bruises after the surgery were enormous! I had work don't to my tip and broken bones to correct small hump. The hump is still there, and the tip looks very uneven. It's actually different on each side: round on one side and pinched on the other:-( I'm really hoping that this will change. Thank you for your answer. In having my 6 months check up coming up so hopefully these issues will be addressed..
