MTM Aligners

I’ve gone back and forth with wanting to do the mail order aligners and the dentist route. After MUCH research, I determined I am much to afraid of possibly horrible side effects of unsupervised intervention methods regarding my teeth and went with MTM.
It took around 2 months to hear I was approved after my xrays and photos were sent to the company. I was told to come in January 15th and got my impressions done and sent off to the company and was told to expect to have to wait around a month for my aligners to come in. I’m not sure how true that is.... I’m not holding my breath to hear anything until March or maybe even April... but regardless, I’m SO excited!
I will update as things progress. I’m including a 3D model I received from SDC just to show how my teeth are and what will HOPEFULLY happen regardless of which company I chose lol

Day one, tray one!
arcatlettMarch 18, 2019
So after what seemed like yearsssss, I finally got my first trays today! They were backed up 18 days when I had my impressions sent in. Their turnaround time isn’t usually that long but I guess I got lucky ???? it took from January 14th (impressions sent) til Friday (March 15th) to receive my first trays.
There’s a space between the aligner and my top front teeth bc of the force being applied to the back of them to push them forward. Trays are shaped to how your teeth with look at the end of the 2 weeks, not how they are now so hopefully it’ll resolve soon. The rest of the trays fit perfectly!
I also have a super lisp bc the tray is so far back to push my two front teeth forward. Hopefully that becomes less noticeable as my teeth move forward and the trays aren’t literally sitting on top of my tongue ????
So yeah.... here’s day one!

5th tray out of 10. Halfway update!

Halfway!! I’m 2 days in on my 5th set of aligners which is usually when I take the progress pictures so I figured i would come update.
I’ve been compliant so my treatment is moving along at the pace that it should. I wear them for the first two days for around 23 hrs a day and then I go down to around 20 hrs a day most days sometimes less but never less than 18.
I don’t find them hard to deal with or painful. This set has caused a bit more pain in my molars than previous ones which is a pain when I eat but it’s not unbearable.
So here are some pictures! My bottom teeth are the not obvious change but my top front teeth have moved forward a lot and my lateral incisors have done a lot of rotating and moving to align with my other teeth.
So, so happy I made the choice to go with my dentist!! It really is a relief to have him with me and checking on me every two weeks.
