Wow! I had no idea that I was going to experience as much swelling as I did post op... The machine that was used was Cynosure ---- found out today that the fractional part was set at what was an equivalent to 35% coverage of skin and the rest of the settings were set at levels used as if it were a fully ablative procedure... in other words, this was an aggressive treatment... thank you... would not have wanted it any other way... last week, which was the first days post op, were a challenge to say the least... I had to use lots and lots of Aquaphor... do water with vinegar soaks regularly.... I have been telling everyone that I am in cosmetic jail.... be housebound for 2 full weeks... but come Monday, July 27th, I will get to apply lots and lots of sunscreen along with makeup and let the world see the new me!

I love it "cosmetic jail" :)

I am shocked that you're 62, you look amazing even before your treatment, can't wait to see your results. How many sessions do you have planned, or is it only the one? Be sure to keep those photos and updates coming.

Yes, I have always sported a much younger appearance-- that being said, I did submit myself for a facelift back in 1999... when I was 46 years of age... and of course, the facelift set my age appearance way back... so with 15 years of living since that facelift, I was ready to submit myself again for a procedure to give me that fresh-faced look... it took 2 consults with the doctor to be convinced that this fractional co2 laser would in fact give me the results that I was looking for.. we also treated the neck with liposuction, so now I have that defined jaw line with the almost Neffertiti neck... for sure more photos are coming... cosmetic jail ends for me this Monday, July 27th... when I can apply my regular moisturizer with SPF of 50 then make up.... because I am going to be pink in the face for awhile.. My goal is to hear people start cussing again when I tell them my age... it is so much fun... yeah... my game is "Guess My Age, People"... and I win that game all the time!!!

and I really didn't have much in the way of wrinkles... .. I was simply losing collagen and elasticity... look closely at the before picture of me with my son then look at the healing face to the right... I cannot believe my eyes myself because I feel like I have done a time warp or time travel because I feel like I am looking at a face that says "thirty something".... and my doctor, Dr. Jack Hensel, has told me that the skin contraction has not even really kicked in yet.... my skin is going to tighten up lots and lots according to him... I do want people to pay attention to the fact that this was done with the best, best machine on the market and that machine is made by CYNOSURE... they need to seek this specifically...

Was your skin burned off? So it grow out again

Skin was lasered, but only a fraction of my skin was treated... I was told that it was set at 35% of the skin... the manufacturer of the laser machine is Cynosure.... I have been told that the machine is supposed to be the best that is out there...... if I were you, I would shop for who and where you can get the best that is out there.... that is closest to you...

You are looking pretty awesome! So happy for you. I am 57 and getting the loose feeling. No real wrinkles to speak of but slight jowls and would love to tighten the neck a little too. Cynosure has made a lot of lasers. Do you know the specific name? I have seen an old affirm laser by cynosure but it is def old. I'm sure they have made many new ones after that one... Price was good for results such as yours. So that did include neck?? Can't wait for more pics. I'm really interested. I was thinking of a mini face lift but not sure it's time yet....

The doctor told me on the 10 post surgery visit that I have seen nothing yet as far as the skin tightening benefits... which was very exciting to hear.. we were going to include the neck, but at the time of the procedure he decided to not do my neck because I had my under chin/jaw area lipo done-- was going to have to wear a strap for 2 weeks --- he realized that I had enough on my hands taking care of the face and wearing the strap... I am so grateful he made that choice--- that 1st week was rough --- and the price I stated was for all of the work, including the anesthesia related costs. more pics will be coming but the one that I have posted is the best representation of where I am hoving... let your doctor advise you on the timing of a face lift... it would be better to go a little sooner versus a little later --- not unless you opt for the laser resurfacing--- which is going to regenerate your collagen etc... by the way, why do you call yourself "worried nancy" ???

My first post was regarding a breast revision and I had some "lifting" of skin around the Arreola and when I posted my questions to the expert doctors I posted as worried Nancy...and there it stuck

okay... hope that "lifting" resolved!

Oh hell. That was the beginning of 3 more breast revisions! With the last one being this past June. My last couple of summers have been pretty much nil....I am hoping this last revision it it for a pretty long time (hopefully never). They don't look as pretty as what they freaking cost me! And they took "face" money. I will have to wait til these are paid off. But doing "a little something" or a big something (not sure) to my face is def on the list. I have some looseness in jowls and neck, no wrinkles to talk about but I hadn't planned to wait til then to do something. Really considering that peel...

By the way how are you coming along??

do lots of research because there are some machines and practioners who leave grid marks on the face.... I could see the laser holes right after the surgery, but now there is NONE to be seen...

thank you for asking... it takes so long for the redness to fade completely... but it is fading.... I tried wearing my regular foundation yesterday, but it does not last for the entire day.... Obagi is the only foundation that can handle the job...

Who did your face lift? How long does it take until the laser areas regain the sam complexion color as the the neck?

My facelift was performed back in 1999 by Dr. Louis Costa... as for the face complexion color, I am told that I will have a slighty lighter tint in the treated areas... than what I had previously.. my face was lighter than my neck anyway... the lighter the complexion the less of a lightening effect... darker complexions would be more negatively impacted from a laser resurfacing... Great question!

Hi Eva.... the healing is SO SO slow!! I feel like I am watching grass grow! My other slow reinvention of myself is letting all of my white hair grow out.... but thank you for your encouraging comment.. I have to lather on my 50+ moisturizer then lather on my foundation which I previously used so sparingly... My first "guess my age game" yesterday rendered me a "about 40 years of age" result... BINGO!! I do promise more pics as the healing becomes more evident... Have a great day!

I love your spirit! To be clear, you are going to embrace you white hair? Grey hair is actually a trend right now, I am fighting with grey just around my hairline and I was thinking of ways to blend it better because my hair is so dark. I love the "guess my age" game--  I would love to see a video of that...little clips - hahaha :) Happy healing, and have fun!

I am totally going to embrace my white/silver hair... I have been covering for so long now, I am only beginning to get an idea of just how much silver I am going to be rocking.. the decision to undergo this resurfacing just helped me with the decision to lose the dye... not to mention dropping that monthly expense from my budget... but if you are not having that much grey... are you covering right now or not??

2.5 WEEKS POST SURGERY

User Avatar

17 days exactly post surgery.... my cheeks are so very, very smooth.... I have been using a very heavy foundation, but today I went back to Hensel's office to consult with a nurse about the obagi skin product and I left with a much, much lighter foundation that will do the coverage over the redness just as well, if not better.. I also had to go and pick up a powder so that I can have a more matte finish.. I am looking forward to see how this comes together tomorrow morning when I apply the new skin care cosmetics... Also, have the obagi moisturizer which is very rich in shea butter... again, looking forward to see a more natural camouflage of the redness .... here is the next before and after picture...
