Be Cautious with This Clinic

Between 2022 and 2023 I was seen at GoodSkin NY by Lisa. I spent over $17,000 over a handful of visits for botox, filler and Metamorphosis micro needling. At first, these women (Lisa and Elle) look remarkably beautiful. Elle actually changed before my eyes during the time I visited the clinic and at my last visit she looked both stunning and absolutely nothing like she did at my first visit. This is noteworthy. It has taken me over a year to write this review because I have been living a nightmare because of the treatments I had at this clinic. So I began by looking at my invoices and then looking at the current GoodSkin website and I was astonished to see that Elle now has remarkable similarity to Lisa. In a lineup I could never distinguish Elle from the same woman I met in 2022!

I think this is important because rather than being able to enhance and fight aging, Lisa has one idea of beauty in mind. The problem with this quest began when I experienced how little she understood about the side effects of off label use of the fillers and products she was willing to employ. In my first visit and after reading the old GoodSkin website where I read a lot about the European training and "untouched" I slowly began to see that these desirable claims just weren't a reality for this practice. Lisa is not highly trained and neither is her sister, Lauren, who no longer appears on the website (the amount of change in this practice is also noteworthy and won't be apparent to the newcomer who is considering the clinic for treatment).

Lisa was, from the onset, rude and condescending and strangely talked to me like I was a child. I was constantly pushed to spend more money on treatments but I personally couldn't justify it. I work in politics and I can deal with problematic personalities to make strides and while I should have seen this as a red flag, I just assumed Lisa had the chops to back it up. I was wrong. This was a considerable life lesson as I don't expect to be screwed by medical practitioners with convincing websites. I was treated like a second-class client because I wouldn't agree to extreme treatments. Thank goodness I didn't! But looking back, I spent $17k in little more than a year... is that really second class?!

At my second session Lisa suggested filler in my under eye area. I am not going to post before and after pics but my undereye trough area was fine. This was an exercise in seeking some level of perfection unknown. Not aware this was a risky area, I consented. I also consented to Morpheus, thinking it couldn't be much different than the morpeus I'd had with my longtime family doctor. Shortly after I experienced spontaneous swelling of my face around my eyes and orange peel skin and extreme redness on my entire face. I suddenly had rosacea. The swelling aspect affected my vision and looked like I'd gotten hit with a bat or a fist around my eye with my ocular area swelling my eye partially closed. The orange-peel skin effect has taken over two years of work with my dermatologist (who documented and submitted the issue to regulators) to begin to overcome. It seems that the energy level applied was unsafe and not recommended and the post-procedure care (which comes in GoodSkin labeled containers) was also off label. I asked GoodSkin what the Morpheus post-treatment products were that they gave to me and they responded, "The HQRA cream has 7.8% hydroquinone + 1% retinoic acid. The healing cream has Ceravae + a drop of Fluocinonide cream USP, .1%"

These homemade products are not tested or shown safe for post microneedling care. I wish I could file a lawsuit but cosmetic procedures are difficult, as I understand from my family attorney. This clinic is playing with fire. And I'm embarrassed.

I've never had to have filler dissolved and boy was I in for a treat -- the nightmare began. I told the clinic I needed some help for spontaneous swelling in the area of the new filler and they were pretty reluctant to help. I finally sent pictures and Elle immediately responded that the clinic would like to see me soon to dissolve the filler. This visit was nothing short of disgusting. Lisa whispered loudly in the hallway to Elle while I waited in the chair (how old are we?). Eventually Lisa came into the room and was downright hostile. She approached the situation as if it was my fault my body hated her under eye filler. She told me I might have "another underlying medical condition" causing the spontaneous swelling. I told her I actually had a great work up with my primary care doctor with bloodwork looking at C-reactive protein and a host of other inflammatory markers, all negative. I'm actually in great health! And I'd had filler for over ten years without issue! But she insisted that I might have "something else". She attempted to use an ultrasound device to locate the filler but the device wouldn't hold a charge and kept zonking out. It was clear this clinic and Lisa had no idea how to handle a complication. She said she couldn't even see filler when the device finally worked for a few seconds. A few weeks later I flew to a specialist in LA who "saw filler", lots of it, and injected dissolver, finally unblocking my lymphatic drainage. My swelling stopped, thank God. But I also lost quite a lot of volume which brings me to my next point...

The product that dissolves filler absolutely dissolves natural collagen. Lisa swears this is not backed by science but she can't substantiate that. It's strange that she's so wedded to that claim ( red flag) because research is not conclusive and my closest friend who happens to be a cosmetic surgeon specializing in burn cases tells me that hyaluronidase absolutely dissolves natural collagen and it should not be considered an easy fallback to poorly planned injections. After having to dissolve Lisa's filler to regain my eyesight, Lisa continued to claim that the giant fat bags and hollow areas that formed under my eyes immediately following injections of hyaluronidase are genetic. According to Lisa, I just happened to age 20 years in 1 month thanks to her skillful hand.

Since seeing GoodSkin I've had to undergo 5 treatments of pulse dye laser to stop the rosacea. My skin texture is no longer orange peel-like but my dermatologist has taken steps to document my case to improve regulation. She notes that the vascular growth on my skin is unlike anything she has ever seen. Unfortunately, Morpheus isn't clearly the problem but the incorrect application and treatment may likely be the issue and that falls on Goodskin. I also have a prescription topical I have to apply to continue to combat the vascular abnormality. Rosacea not only doesn't run in my family but I had never had a skin issue before visiting GoodSkin. I went from fair skinned to looking like a split watermelon.

I have had to undergo a $6,000 lower eye surgery to remove the bags that formed after so much collaged was dissolved and I've had over $4,000 in treatments to help rebuild my cheek structure. At least I have my vision.

Goodskin totally ruined my face and my quality of life for nearly two years and acted as if it was my problem. Lisa has no idea what she is doing. This clinic is out for big wallets and I'm sorry I fell for it. I even now recall Lisa repeatedly trying to tell me about her "celebrity clients" not even realizing who was in her chair. I now remember Elle and Lisa and a few others wearing sizable rose gold Rolex watches. It was all a show, like a holdover from the 2010's. It's just horrendous that we don't have been regulation to prevent this. I'm an intelligent and skeptical person and I still didn't walk out soon enough.
