WORTH IT
I took the decision of getting a sleeve after gaining a lot of weight after back surgery. The waiting time was a bit over a year. I tried to lose weight by myself while waiting but my physical condition made it hard and i gained instead of losing. Ive gained about 60 pounds between the time of back pain and surgery.
Im 5'8" was 294 in dec 2015- my highest ever. 282 at time of surgery, 270 2 weeks post op and i am now 246 2 months post op.
Life after sleeve is not easy. After and before surgery i was never hungry. Now I'm starving all the time. I eat so little that i need to eat every 2-3 hours. I have cramps if i eat too fast or too much and i get sick if i get bothered while eating. Im working on eating slow. Ive always been an healthy eater and only drank water so the diet is easy on me.
Im not a meat person so i had to adjust in order to get all my protein. I use to be a big drinker but find it hard to absorb all the necessary liquid.
I sometimes get impatient and wish the weight would come off faster but over all i have no regrets. I have been able to get back to the gym 5 times a week, which was my main goal.

Hi, glad to hear all went well with your surgery. I have read about this doctor and could not find someone who has had him as a surgeon. I know the wait is long that is ok. I just wanted to know if we can make an appointment or do we need a referral by our GP. I read he is at Mtl General? Did you pay out of pocket?

Hi sorry for the delay in answering. I'm new here and didnt get a notification. You only need to call mtl gen and request a form. I waited about 15 months for the surgery but i got lucky as they had a last minute cancellation and called me. I didnt have to pay anything, it was all covered by the ramq. He really is a great surgeon. He called me home upon my return to see how i was doing. Little things that really make a difference.

I have the same problems you are experiencing. I forget to eat slow and am nauseous after I eat. I am 1vmonth post op and frustrated but I know it will get better. I was 248 on surgery day and 228 at 21 days post op.

I'm down 82 pounds so far. Still working out 6 days a week but still encounter plateau where I get stock for about two weeks. It's annoying but part of the game. Still hurting when I eat but less hungry than i was. Losing a lot of hair. It started a month ago. I sometimes fear that I'm going to lose all my hair.

Well the surgery went well but I haven't lost too much - 25 lbs for two months :(

They told me that around 12 pounds a month is the normal. I know it gets frustrating because somehow we expect to lose the weight right away but it wouldn't be healthy. Keep following the diet and exercise, it'll make the difference in the long term. Don't get discouraged, just focus and it will come along.

Oh I hope so. I started going to aqua Zumba and I wish I could be able to walk to my job too...but I am living in a middle of nowhere lol. So I am walking my pup...but again, not as much as I should :( excuses, excuses :))

Nice job. You will get there. Walking is as good as anything else. How are you doing now?

Sorry for the delay.
I'm doing amazing. i had stopped losing weight at 175 and it's fine like that as i dont know what is skin or fat anymore. i felt that i need to stabilized my weight for a while.
i have been at the same weight for over a year. i wear 29 jeans and M/m tops and jackets, so i think that for now I'm fine with it.
My current concern is the incredible amount of loose skin i have in my legs, butt, belly, calves and arms. I did some exilis extra on my calves for my skin to contract. i had a result of 1.5 in contraction will see the final result in 2 months.
Also considering going oversea to get an abdominoplasty, butt lift and thigh lift.
I will let you know how it goes!

Thank you for your warm words. I was an healthy eater and active person and i find it really hard. I can't imagine how it is for people who have to change their whole habits on top of it.my heart goes to them and i really admire the courage it takes.
For now I'm at 65 pounds lost so far in about 3months. I work out intensively about 5 days a week and take walks. I can only eat about 75 to 125 ml of food at time. I'm fine with it but it's not easy on social life.
