A rhinoplasty for my 20th birthday

18 November 2014 : I visited Dr Schwarz office located in Westmount Montreal before my procedure. I had previously read his reviews online, both negative and positive. With rhinoplasty , Dr Schwarz had more negative than positive reviews but I still decided to go for a visit and look at the before after pictures of his clients. When I entered, the secretary was really nice to me. The office had 1 client or two. A very simple classic office. The secretary , Nicole, was very sweet. She lent me the before after album of rhinoplasty clients. I really liked the pictures. Noses looked natural and flawless. I decided I'd take an appointment for a consultation, two weeks after, On december third.

December 2 2014: I took my mom with me. We met Dr Schwarz. He was polite, calm and patient. Bilingual of course in French and English. The consultation didn't last for more than 15 minutes. We went over my expectations ,but not in details. He told me that he had 35 years of experience in rhinoplasty and receives a lot of clients. I decided i'd go with the surgery, so we proceeded to take photographs. He told me to come back the next day, to analyze these photographs

3 december 2014: This was the day after the consultation where I had to come back. Again, the meeting was a 20 minutes thing. After discussing what Dr Schwarz could do, and my expectations, we analyzed my pictures, I mainly wanted the bump to be removed so I could have a nice profile. He drew my new nose on a paper. I could chose if I wanted a curve or not. I decided to have a slight curve , to make it look more natural. He said he won’t touch the nostrils. The tip, only a bit to make it more in harmony with my face. My surgery was scheduled to be on december 12. The week after. I was excited because it seemed right. Arnica was prescribed to me prior to the surgery and the usual rules had to be followed : no vitamins, no ibupofren.

December 12 2014: I woke up early at 6 am to prepare myself. My mother drove me to the office. I paid my money (4699 CAD). I got dressed in the surgery robe. The nurse, Janice was really nice to me. She put the local anaesthetic on me. I felt a bit dizzy and felt asleep shortly after. I just recall feeling the hammer dump on my nose and the nurse saying 'its finished!' that's it. I am still suspecting that the surgery took only 2 minutes. I was probably asleep the whole time. They put the cast on me and I went back home at around 11:30 am . A little bleeding ,but no pain . I was excited.

Post op days with the cast on went excellent. I was pampered by my mother, i couldn't eat because I still had difficulty opening my mouth with the cast one. Soup was my main dish .

December 17 2014: Cast removal day. Not what i expected. The cast was removed and the nose was very wide , but very very wide!! I have a petite face. With the cast on, my face looked pretty. Now that i removed the cast, the horror showed . The nose had no more bump from the profile but it was large in size. I am here, freaking out and reading about swellings. Most say that the swelling will go away in 6 months. I’m crossing my fingers. For now, its a horror and its a cow nose. Google ‘cow nose’ and you’ll get an idea . I cannot post pictures for privacy reasons but do send me a PM and I’ll send you my picture ,including the before after. My nose hurts, i feel the bones are moving from inside. I feel as if I’ve just taken out my glasses lol. That’s how swollen i feel, with small eyes. The swallowing is literally taking my whole face away. It is 5 times bigger than my face. I miss my old nose. I have no more cartilage I feel, or did he thin the bone & its all swollen ? I’ll update later

January 2nd 2014 : Its been 3 weeks today since I had gotten my rhinoplasty and my nose is getting better and better . I am happy ! The swelling is decreasing , i can see the curve I wanted on my nose. There is still some swelling (I really hope that its swelling ! haha) . I am ready to post this review diary i've been keeping on my computer and I would like to thank the RealSelf community for having me with them throughout my recovery period. They really comforted me in saying that this is only swelling and that it will all go down . I will update in a few months for my nose.

well, its four 4 weeks post. My nose continues to change, I honestly think i have a bit more swelling. The tip is droopy but hard to touch.
I hope it will get smaller, cause right now, its huge
