I did my facelift with Dr. Mesa and I am extremely satisfied. I got a facelift 2 years ago with a renowned facelift surgeon in New York City and I was not happy with the results. Although I my skin looked tighter and the scars were ok, I never looked the way I wanted (rejuvenated). All my friends keep saying looked tired after surgery. When one my out of state friends asked me “when I was going to do my facelift”, I felt quite embarrassed to say that I already got a facelift. Because of that I realized I needed to redo my facelift.
I consulted 7 plastic surgeons for redo facelift: 3 plastic surgeons in New York City and 3 plastic surgeons in New Jersey. Dr. Mesa was referred to be by a friend that had a facelift with him. I booked my consultation with Dr. Mesa since the referral was really good. The consultation with Dr. Mesa went smoothly. He was very professional and explained me the entire procedure in details. Dr. Mesa showed me multiple before and after surgeries pictures that demonstrated me exactly what I was looking for. He was the only surgeon out of 7 that really described in detail how the healing process was going to happen. The consultation took more than 45 minutes and I never felt rushed. He offered me to undergo surgery under local anesthesia or going to sleep. I have to say that he was the younger plastic surgeon of all 7 I consulted with. Initially I felt anxious because I was expecting the typical surgeon in his 50s with gray hair. His sexy accent is quite charming.
After thinking about my options, I ended up choosing Mesa as I my surgeon. I am glad I choose him over the other ones. I chose to get surgery under local anesthesia because Dr. Mesa told me it safer for me, and that the outcome was not going to be affected. The surgery itself went really smooth. I literally felt nothing during surgery besides two initial “mosquito bites” as told me I was going to feel at the beginning of the procedure. The surgery was so uneventful and painless that I even felt asleep during the case. I felt embarrassed when he told me I felt asleep during the surgery because I know I snore loud sometimes. When surgery was done, I just got a bandage, dressed up and walked out of the operating room with my husband. I didn’t have nausea or vomiting during recovery as I did with my first facelift. Once the numbing medication wore off I left some discomfort especially in my neck, but it was controlled with the prescription pain medication. Next day during follow up, Dr. Mesa removed the bandage and gave me a garment I had to wear around my face and neck until the stitches came off. My recovery was exactly as Dr. Mesa explained to me during consultation. During the first week of surgery I felt one side of the face was asymmetric and I got quite scared. Dr. Mesa addressed my concern immediately and explained the asymmetry it was due to swelling. Once the swelling got better, my asymmetry corrected as told.
Four weeks after my surgery, I attended to my son’s weeding. I was afraid of meeting my extended family and friends. I have to say that my facelift was the center of attention of the weeding. Every body told me I looked so good, so natural and so refreshed. The friend that asked me before when I was going to do my facelift was in shock when she saw me. She told me I look marvelous. As my husband told me, she said I looked-like when I was in my early thirties! Three of my friends already went to see Dr. Mesa and booked their facelift with him.
I am extremely happy with Dr. Mesa’s facelift. Dr. Mesa is a very professional plastic surgeon. He is warm, approachable and very caring. His surgical skills are superb. He really takes care of his patients during consultation, surgery and recovery. He is extremely honest and tells you everything you are supposed to know about your options, risks and recovery process. He is always available and addresses any questions or concerns promptly. His bedside manners are superb. My friends that have done consultations or surgery with him all agree with my thoughts about Dr. Mesa.
